The West Australian Football Commission is offering budding commentators a unique opportunity to get behind the microphone during the 2024 season.
If you think you have the skills, personality and energy to take a game of footy to a new level then this might be the chance you've been waiting for!
"The Voice of WAFL" is a joint initiative between the WAFC and Streamer.com.au, encouraging local talent, sports enthusiasts and digital influencers to have a shot at joining a rich history of WAFL commentators.
Todd Baker, Executive Manager Brand and Growth at the West Australian Football Commission, says just as the WAFL,WAFLW and Colts competitions promote new talent, "The Voice of WAFL" is a perfect chance to unearth emerging broadcasters.
"Our aim with this initiative is to increase engagement and viewership of WAFL games by bringing fresh talent (and their social followers) into WAFL broadcasts (WAFL, WAFL Colts and WAFLW)," Baker said.
"We are also hoping this creates a buzz within younger social circles."
Nick Rynne, Operations Manager at Streamer.com.au, believes "The Voice of WAFL" could help launch a broadcasting career.
“There are plenty of ways to get your content out these days, but the opportunity to be involved with a league like the WAFL doesn’t come around that often,” he said.
“In the same way Streamer promotes and celebrates local sport, we’re excited to help unearth and celebrate the next generation of commentators and footy content creators.
"Can’t wait to see the entries start rolling in!”
Applicants will be asked to submit their show reel or commentary clips via an application landing page on Streamer.com.au.
The WAFC will then shortlist the contenders before a winner is selected.
