The West Australian Football Commission sends its condolences to the family and friends of football legend Steve Marsh who has passed away at the age of 99.
Born in Kalgoorlie, Marsh enjoyed a decorated career beginning in 1945 and ending in 1960 after 265 games at WAFL level.
The champion rover represented South Fremantle in 226 matches, claiming four Fairest and Best Awards and playing in a remarkable six Premierships.
Marsh moved to archrivals East Fremantle in 1957, leading Old Easts to a Premiership as Captain/Coach.
Among his individual playing achievements were the 1952 Sandover Medal, a Simpson Medal in 1953 before he Captained WA in 1954.
A much-loved figure in WA, Marsh was elevated to Legend Status in the West Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2005 and a year later was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
