With an impressive background in sports administration, Brent Hedley has been appointed the new Executive Manager Country, Facilities and Affiliates at the West Australian Football Commission.
Hedley joins the WAFC having held the role of Executive Officer of Football Futures Foundation.
He played a leading role in establishing the charity organisation that raises funds to utilise soccer as a vehicle for strengthening community engagement and strategic growth.
Previously, Hedley was Head of Mental Health and Wellbeing at the AFL Players Association where he oversaw the AFL’s Mental Health Industry Review and worked closely with the league,clubs,and players to develop and implement a framework that was considered the most comprehensive service available to professional athletes in world sports.
Hedley currently serves as a member on Sport West’s True Sport advisory group as well as a member of the Country Football WA Community Advisory Group.
WAFC Chief Executive Michael Roberts has pointed to Hedley’s strong governance and leadership skills as well as his strong country football background.
“Brent is a proven leader within both the sporting and non-sporting landscape," Roberts said.
"He also has a strong attachment to country football having been a player, volunteer and coach for many.
“Brent will be a great addition to the Executive Team here at the WAFC.”
Hedley will start his new role on February 26.
