Many of WA football’s biggest moments and greatest players are being honoured as part of the Subiaco Oval redevelopment project which will be opened on Sunday.
Since 2021 the West Australian Football Commission has been working closely with DevelopmentWA to bring the project to life.
The WA Football memorabilia located around the precinct provides a unique opportunity for WA football followers and the broader community to enjoy and celebrate the significant role the game has played in our State.
Subiaco Oval was the spiritual home of WA Football for more than a century and the redevelopment has captured the rich history for all West Australians to enjoy into the future.
Great WAFL moments and the introduction of the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Dockers have been captured in the display.
Champion players who’ve graced the hallowed turf have also been highlighted, along with a new Sandover Medal walk around the ground, which ensures the tradition of the walk will continue for future generations.
Steve Hargrave, Integrity, Education & Heritage Manager at the West Australian Football Commission, is proud of the redevelopment.
“This has been a significant undertaking, and from a WA Football perspective we are delighted with the oval interpretations and design outcomes that showcase and tell a special story of our historic journey,” he said.
The WAFC would like to acknowledge the time, effort and expertise provided by the DevelopmentWA team.
