West Aussies Celebrate 2023 AFL Draft SelectionWednesday, November 22, 2023 - 3:52 PM

The West Australian Football Commission is delighted that seven local players were chosen on day two of the 2023 NAB AFL National Draft. 

Mitchell Edwards, Clay Hall, Joe Fonti, Zane Zakostelsky, Aiden O'Driscoll, Lawson Humphries and Reece Torrent all found their way onto an AFL list after having their names called out yesterday.

Edwards from the Peel Football Club was selected at number 32 by Geelong.

Hall, also from Peel, was taken at pick 38 by the West Coast Eagles.

Fonti from the Claremont Football Club was selected at number 44 by Greater Western Sydney.

Zakostelsky, also a product of Claremont, was chosen at number 51 by the Brisbane Lions.

O'Driscoll from Perth was snapped up by the Western Bulldogs with pick 55.

Humphries from Swan Districts was taken at pick 63 by Geelong.

Torrent from the Peel Football Club was the final selection of the night at number 64 by the Brisbane Lions.

WAFC State Talent Manager Adam Jones said he's delighted for the 11 West Australians who so far have made it onto an AFL list.

“This is a terrific result for these young players , and I wish them every success as they begin their AFL journey,” Jones said.
