WAFC Congratulates 2023 First-Round AFL Draft SelectionsTuesday, November 21, 2023 - 9:54 AM

The West Australian Football Commission congratulates the four local players chosen in yesterday's first round of the 2023 NAB AFL National Draft. 

Daniel Curtin, Koltyn Tholstrup, Riley Hardeman and Lance Collard have all found their way onto an AFL list. 

Curtin from the Claremont Football Club was selected at number eight by the Adelaide Crows.

Tholstrup from the Subiaco Football Club was called out at 13 by Melbourne.

Hardeman from the Swan Districts Football Club was taken at pick 23 by North Melbourne.

Collard from the Subiaco Football Club was selected at number 28 by St Kilda.

WAFC State Talent Manager, Adam Jones said he's delighted for those who had their names called out.

“These young players have great potential and I wish them every success as they join the AFL system and target a debut at the top level in the coming seasons,” Jones said. 

“Thanks go out to WAFL clubs, schools, coaches, volunteers, family members and friends who’ve helped make it possible for these players to achieve their dream,

"To see four players selected in the first round of the National Draft is a great result not only for them but for WA Football and our Talent Development Pathway, which remains one of the best in Australia."

WAFC Chief Executive Officer, Michael Roberts has paid tribute to every player drafted as a reward for their dedication, sacrifices and commitment to football. 

“WA has for decades produced some of the best young footballers in Australia and I look forward to watching them begin their AFL careers.”
