DUAL Sandover Medallist Jye Bolton has ticked off nearly every box in his stunning WAFL career and this weekend he’ll reach another personal milestone.
Bolton will run out against Perth at Revo Fitness Stadium for his 150th match, an achievement which he holds close to his heart.
“I’m stoked to play 150 games for Claremont and achieve life membership with them, something I’m very grateful for and I’m honoured to have pulled the jumper on this many times,” Bolton said.
But beating the Demons is Bolton’s number one priority on Saturday.
A Claremont victory will ensure the club plays finals for a sixth consecutive season as they chase their first flag since 2012.
“My goal with football every year is to win a premiership, and that will be my goal once again in 2023,” he said.
“I believe we have the list and game plan to be able to achieve this, we just need to execute as a team.”
Bolton has averaged 29 disposals a match in 17 games this year, with eight goals next to his name.
A proven vote getter, Bolton is a serious chance to snare a remarkable third Sandover Medal.
“I’m truly honoured to have won such a prestigious award and have my name among some greats of WA football,” he said.
“I’m also incredibly grateful for the Claremont Football Club board, staff, coaches and team mates who have been able to assist me in performing my best.”
Bolton has proven in 2023 he has the tools to play outside his regular midfield position.
“It’s quite fun being able to change up my role and have different looks at the game, and I’ve learnt a lot about football under coach Ashley Prescott,” Bolton said.
“I spend most of my time at half back and in the midfield, however I never rule out any role as I have played almost every position this year.
“I really enjoy the midfield the most as that’s where I have played football for the majority of my life.
“I never thought I would enjoy the backline, but I have been surprised at how much I enjoy being part of the back six.”
