ROUND 5 featured three days of WAFL action across this weekend and it produced some tremendous performances culminating in a Sunday afternoon thriller between Perth and East Fremantle.

The round began on Friday night at Leederville's Medibank Stadium with two-time reigning premiers Claremont beating Subiaco 13.9 (87) to 4.9 (33).

Then on Saturday, Swan Districts overcame South Fremantle at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval 15.12 (102) to 12.9 (81) and West Perth accounted for Peel Thunder 17.13 (115) to 8.9 (57) at Arena Joondalup.

The weekend concluded on Sunday afternoon with East Fremantle beating Perth 15.18 (108) to 16.10 (106) at Lathlain's Brownes Stadium.

The results leave Claremont and West Perth as the only two unbeaten teams and they clash next Saturday at Claremont Oval. East Fremantle and Perth are both on 3-1 records followed by Swan Districts (2-2), East Perth (1-3), Subiaco (1-3), South Fremantle (0-4) and Peel (0-4).

Claremont had little trouble accounting for Subiaco by 54 points on Friday night despite losing Luke Blackwell, Mark Seaby, Alex Silvagni and Jack Bradshaw with ankle injuries throughout the night.

Chad Jones kicked three goals with Ian Richardson and Anton Hamp adding two each. Jake Murphy picked up 29 possessions, Ryan Neates 25, Byron Schammer 23 and Nick Winmar 22.

Swan Districts overcame a slow start to kick seven goals to nil against South Fremantle in the second quarter to set up the eventual 21-point win.

Kirk Ugle kicked five goals for Swans and Tim Geappen four. Lachie Neale picked up 27 possessions, Justin Simpson 27, Brett Robinson 26, Shaun Hildebrandt 24, Aaron Elari 23 and Dayle Garlett 22.

East Fremantle prevailed in a thriller by two points in a game that had it all.

The Demons looked to have the game won with two goals in just over a minute to Matt Moody to put them up by five points, but the Sharks persevered and were able to force a turnover through Ryan Lester-Smith, and then Sean Henson was paid a mark directly in front of goal.

He went back and slotted it with three seconds left on the clock and the Sharks won a cracking contest.

Lester-Smith, Brad Dick and Mitch Boyle kicked three goals each for East Fremantle with Bradd Dalziell picking up 32 possessions, Rory O'Brien 26 and Mark McGough 23. Steven Dodd was outstanding on Kyle Reimers keeping him to just five touches and one goal.
