Country Football WA (CFWA) is excited to announce the Bush Footy Legends Podcast is back for a fourth season.
The Podcast is in partnership with Healthway to promote the ‘Think Mental Health’ campaign which provides a significant opportunity to raise greater awareness around mental health within the football community.
Through these episodes, listeners will gain valuable insights into the experiences and challenges faced by football players at various levels, promoting a deeper understanding of the impact that mental health can have on individuals within the sporting community and encourage listeners to engage in open and supportive discussions around mental health.
The podcast, hosted by The West Australian’s sports reporter, Jackson Barrett, will feature 6 episodes with each guest bringing their own journey to each episode.
“Country people are natural storytellers, and I loved the chance to hear some of the incredible insights of our guests and help spread an important message about mental health, particularly among regional and remote communities and their footy clubs,” Barrett said.
Episode 1 of the new season will drop on Monday 14 August and features all-round country legend, former politician and former General Manager of Country Football, Terry ‘Tuck’ Waldron.
“The longer I have been involved in football and particularly country football, the more I have been convinced of the huge social, physical and mental health benefits that football provides,” Waldron said.
“Football has certainly been of great benefit to me in so many aspects of my life.”
Mental health advocate and Dunsborough Football Club stalwart Cal Foster features on episode 2.
“Mental health does not discriminate, that why it’s important to talk to people, there’s something powerful is realising you’re not the only one going through something!”
Earlier this year the CFWA launched the WA Footy Wellbeing Hub , a one-stop-shop providing information and support around mental health and wellbeing. The full episodes can be found through the hub.
Episodes will be available on all streaming services including Apple and Spotify.
