Bunbury Catholic College claimed victories in the boys' and girls' grand finals at the Senior High School Country Week for the second year in a row.
More than 2000 students from 32 competing schools took part in the event from Monday 26 June to Friday 30 June.
The Eagles Senior Schoolboys Cup – Walker Division was won by Bunbury Catholic College, who claimed a 17-point victory over Australind Senior High School 6.9. (45) to 4.4 (28).
Player of the match in the in the Boys A Division was Harry Jones from Bunbury Catholic College.
The Walker Division is named after WA football legend Billy Walker, who grew up in the Wheatbelt town of Narembeen. Walker was there to watch the game and present the trophy to the winning Bunbury team.
The Fremantle Dockers Cup – Vanderweide Division (Girls) is named after Catherine Vanderweide, the first female President of a football league in Australia – the GNFL and is also the first female to be awarded life membership of the West Australian Country Football League.
In a close battle, Bunbury Catholic College made it two from two defeating Bunbury Senior High School by five points 3.2 (20) to 2.3 (15).
Player of the tournament in the Girls Division (Danielle Fagents Medal) was awarded to Melinda Bobby from Bunbury Catholic College, while teammate Brooke Edwards won the Coach’s Award.
Fremantle Dockers AFLW player Aine Tigh was on hand to present the trophy to the winning team, while Danielle Fagents presented her medal.
Steve Roth was awarded best umpire of the tournament (John Omodei Medal).
The successful event was run by School Sport WA with the support of the West Australian Football Commission.
