The West Australian Football Commission and South Australian Football Commission are proud to announce an extension to our ongoing partnerships with Kia Australia as the official naming rights partner for the State Game in 2023 and 2024.
This exciting collaboration will see the State Game become the Kia State Game, showcasing the world-class talent and passion for the game that Western Australia and South Australia are renowned for.
Kia's commitment to innovation and excellence aligns perfectly with the WAFL and SANFL's focus on fostering talent and developing the future stars of football. Through this partnership, Kia, the SANFL and the WAFL will work together to deliver an exceptional football experience that will excite and engage fans throughout Western Australia, South Australia and beyond.
Dean Norbiato, General Manager, Marketing at Kia Australia says, the deal is a great fit for the company.
“We love our footy at Kia and are pumped to support a State v State game with over 100 years of history.
“The WAFL and SANFL are both great partners of ours, so the fit was obvious, but it makes backing a winner in the Kia State Game like picking your favourite child,” he said.
WAFC Chief Executive Michael Roberts has thanked Kia for their great contribution to the game.
“The WAFL has enjoyed a fruitful partnership with Kia for many years, and to have them on board for two years at State level is another example of their commitment to the game in WA.”
SANFL Chief Executive Darren Chandler has also embraced the partnership.
“Both SA and WA have a strong and rich football history and pride themselves on the quality, standard and success of their elite State League competitions,” Mr Chandler said.
The intense rivalry between the two states stretches back 118 years and has produced a remarkably even history, with the Croweaters leading the Black Swans 49 wins to 48, including a thrilling 4-point result at Optus Stadium last year.
The Kia State Game will be played as a curtain raiser to the Port Adelaide v Melbourne game at the Adelaide Oval on Friday, 19th May, and streamed on AFL.com.au, the AFL Live App and SANFL Now at 1.40pm (Perth time).
