The West Australian Football Commission has launched the 2023 NAB Auskick Season with two events across the metropolitan area this month.
The East Perth Football Club held a function for Junior Club and Auskick Volunteers across Perth’s Metro North and Central Regions before South Fremantle hosted Perth’s Metro South Clubs.
Auskick Co-Ordinators, Auskick Volunteers, and Club Presidents were in attendance for the first event of its type since Covid with everyone encouraged to help grow the game.
As part of the evening, the information that was provided was for the 2023 Play AFL Campaign, strategies to make the role of volunteers easier, upcoming changes and initiatives for Auskick, the 2023 season calendar, AFL and AFLW Half-Time and Little League opportunities, along with a meet and greet with WAFC (West Australian Football Commission) Development Officers and staff who are part of the club’s support network.
Nollamara Football Club at Des Penman Reserve attended the launch and is joining the Auskick family, offering a junior football experience for the first time in over 15 years.
The Nollamara Football Club have fully committed to Auskick in 2023, with the goal of investing in junior football to help grow participation of football in the area.
Nollamara President Brett Madigan is committed to work alongside the WAFC and the Subiaco Football District to create a strong football pathway for children within the area.
Madigan believes an Auskick program is also a wonderful opportunity to begin building a family culture within the club with inclusivity for everyone in the community a priority.
Michelle Sewell, Auskick & Alternate Formats Specialist at the West Australian Football Commission, wants everyone involved in Auskick to be well prepared.
“By sharing volunteer resources, calendars, event information and workshopping some important topics such as Female growth in the Auskick space we’re confident our clubs and more than 200 volunteers who attended the events feel supported and resourced for the upcoming season,” she said.
Sewell believes a social setting helped participants plan for the year ahead.
“The sundowner events were well received and allowed our clubs to connect with one another and share their Auskick experiences with their District Development Officers and WAFC staff ahead of the 2023 season.”
The NAB AFL Auskick Program is one of the country’s premier junior sporting programs for pre-Primary to Year 2 children.
An online event will be held early next month for regional Auskick Centres.
