One of Perth’s most popular tourist destinations has hosted the WAFC State Academy Summer Program Girls Camp.
The camp, which included 26 players aged between 16 and 18 years of age, focussed on building team unity and having fun.
Elly Lambkin, Talent Program Specialist at the WAFC, praised the players for the way they approached the various challenges.
“The commitment of the players to all activities was outstanding with the squad learning and building strong relationships which will hold them in good stead for the upcoming 18’s National Championships,” Lambkin said.
Activities on the camp included leadership and game education, photo sharing, pilates, a team beach carnival, team island walk, footy touch session, mini golf and a session exploring why the girls play footy.
“Rottnest was a beautiful location, a perfect spot for the group to spend time and bond as a team,” she said.
The 18’s players are now back training with their WAFLW clubs to prepare for the 2023 WAFLW season as well as the WAFLW pre-season Combine testing on Saturday the 18th of February.
The final squad for the 2023 18’s National Championships will be announced late next month ahead of the match against South Australia on April 30.
