East Perth has been confirmed as the eighth League side in the WAFLW League Competition next season in a major boost for local women’s football.
The inclusion of the Royals follows the introduction of West Perth to the League Competition this season.
The growth of the WAFLW continued this season, with Claremont defeating the previously undefeated East Fremantle in a thrilling Grand Final at Revo Fitness Stadium.
The WAFLW is also providing a vital pathway for aspiring AFLW players.
As part of a new look WAFLW next year, WAFL clubs have formed a majority decision to suspend the Women’s Reserves competition, with a review to happen at the end of the 2024 season.
The West Australian Football Commission is open to reintroducing the Reserves competition as the number of talented female footballers continues to grow.
The focus for the WAFC is the development of talent, across the Rogers Cup and League to ensure a sustainable State League competition and pathway for up-and-coming talent.
