More than one hundred junior players were recognised for their outstanding performances at the 2022 Metro Central Junior Football Conference Best and Fairest Awards at the Hyatt Regency Hotel last Monday night.
Over 480 club participants, volunteers, umpires, and spectators attended the night of nights, as the conference celebrated the top three players in each division across the zone this season.
The night was hosted by WAFC Competitions staff member Bree Wagner, alongside Metro Central RDC Chair Travis Burrows.
It also featured RDC Junior Delegates Dave Farthing (Swans), Tony Pickburn, (Perth) and Shaun Hughes, (East Perth) who had the task of reading the votes.?
Metro Central Regional Development Council Community Delegate, Rob Geersen said.
“I’m sure I speak for all members of the Metro Central RDC board in congratulating everyone involved in the 2022 Best and Fairest Awards night.
The work and dedication that goes into ensuring our young men and women get to play each weekend, is nothing short of outstanding.
To every player, umpire, WAFC staff member and club volunteer across the Metro Central region, thank you for a job well done.
It’s through your tireless commitment that nights like these are possible, but more importantly, it’s through your tireless efforts that our kids get to play,” Geersen said.
The event was lived streamed for families at home courtesy of Streamer, with an official viewership of the event reaching over 11,000 people.
The success of the night was due in no small part to the support of the WAFC Competitions Team, Dee More and Catrina Fyfe, along with the contribution from the Junior Umpires Associations.
Attention now turns to the Club and Volunteers Awards of Excellence evening at the WA Museum, Boola Bardip, which will be held this Friday Night, the 16th of September, in front of over 350 club volunteers.
