ONCE again there were no shortage of standout performers across the four matches in Round 17 of the 2022 WAFL season with positions in the Team of the Week hotly sought after.
All four Round 17 WAFL matches took place on Saturday afternoon including a battle of the Leederville Oval co-tenants with Subiaco ending up prevailing 10.9 (69) to 8.8 (56) over East Perth.
Claremont then kept its winning form going to improve to second position on the ladder with a huge 18.14 (122) to 6.5 (41) victory against Perth at Lathlain's Mineral Resources Park.
Peel Thunder made it four consecutive wins by beating South Fremantle 10.12 (72) to 8.10 (58) at Mandurah's Lane Group Stadium.
Swan Districts then kept themselves right in the finals hunt by holding the West Coast Eagles to their lowest ever score in the 13.18 (96) to 1.5 (11) win at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval.
Some of the ruckmen putting their hands up for spots in the Team of the Week for Round 17 included Oliver Eastland, Scott Jones, Bailey Williams and Lloyd Meek.
Some of the in and under midfielders to shine included Ronin O'Connor, Declan Mountford, Hamish Brayshaw, Connor Blakely, Mitch Crowden, Corey Byrne, Tom Blechynden, Liam Hickmott, Leigh Kitchin, Josh Cipro and Josh Browne.
Then were outside midfielders Bailey Rogers, Ryan Lim, Angus Scott, Stan Wright, Tyrone Thorne, Neil Erasmus, Brendon Ah Chee, Stefan Giro, Jesse Turner and Jarvis Pina.
Other midfielders to put in strong showings were Jye Bolton, Angus Schumacher, Haiden Schloithe, Max Walters, Wil Hickmott, Harry Marsh, Aidan Clarke, Tobe Watson, Sam Fisher, Logan Young and Jed Kemp.
Then in the forward-line, Tyron Smallwood, Jack Buller, Callan England, Nick Robertson, Riley Smith, Sam Stubbs, Mason Shaw, Angus Dewar, Ryan Borchet and Darcy Jones.
Defenders to put themselves in contention for the Team of the Week included Lachlan Martinis, Kye Willcocks, Matt Taylor, Toby McQuilkin, Blake Schlensog, Chad Pearson, Drew Rohde, Jehb O'Donohue, Anthony Stephens and Alex Witherden.
