ROUND 4 of the WAFLW competition kicks off with a bang on Saturday evening in Mandurah with the battle of the last two undefeated teams Peel Thunder and East Fremantle.
While Claremont does sit on top of the WAFLW ladder coming into Round 4 thanks to percentage, it is Peel Thunder and East Fremantle who are the only two teams left yet to taste a defeat in the 2022 season.
That will change by Saturday after the Thunder and Sharks lock horns at Lane Group Stadium with bounce down from 5.30pm.
The round will then continue on Sunday afternoon with West Perth enjoying its first ever home game in the WAFLW at Joondalup's Provident Financial Oval when they take on the league-leading Claremont.
The last match of Round 4 then takes place at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval between Swan Districts and Subiaco.
WAFLW TEAM OF THE WEEK – ROUND 3
Meanwhile in the WAFLW Reserves competition, Peel Thunder plays East Fremantle in Mandurah on Saturday afternoon and Swan Districts takes on Subiaco on Sunday at Steel Blue Oval.
And in the Youth Girls Rogers Cup, it gets underway on Friday evening at Fremantle Community Bank Oval for Round 4 with South Fremantle playing East Perth.
Then on Saturday, Peel Thunder plays East Fremantle at Lane Group Stadium before on Sunday, Swan Districts faces Subiaco at Steel Blue Oval, and West Perth takes on Claremont at Joondalup's Provident Financial Oval.
PEEL THUNDER v EAST FREMANTLE
The game of the WAFLW season so far could very well take place on Saturday night at Lane Group Stadium in Mandurah.
Peel Thunder and East Fremantle are the last two remaining undefeated teams in the WAFLW competition and they put that record on the line in Saturday night's enticing encounter.
The two teams are not only the last remaining undefeated teams this season, but they are also the only sides to win WAFLW premierships with East Fremantle winning the first flag in 2019, and now the Thunder the last two in 2020 and 2021.
That sets the stage for what should be a fascinating contest with Peel having started its quest for a premiership hat-trick in the best possible way with wins against Subiaco and South Fremantle prior to the Round 3 bye.
Meanwhile, East Fremantle had the bye in the opening round but the Sharks have been supremely impressive the past two weeks beating both Swan Districts and Claremont.
Peel Thunder is back in action after the bye last weekend and from that team that beat South Fremantle two weeks ago, Anke Grove, Bella Mann, Trinity Brown, Ava Muir and Angel Rowley have been added to the squad to play East Fremantle.
Ebonee Hardie is the only player to be named out at this stage.
East Fremantle had a thrilling win against Claremont last week and from that side, Abbey Amaranti, Leanne Gubbins, Kate Inglis-Hodge, Anjelique Raison, Torrens Revell and Jasmine Schorsch have all been added to the squad to take on Peel.
Going out of the team for the Sharks are N Entwistle and Kellie Gibson.
WEST PERTH v CLAREMONT
West Perth will create another slice of history on Sunday hosting its first ever WAFLW home game against a Claremont team looking to bounce back from their first loss of 2022.
This season is going to keep throwing up a lot of firsts for West Perth and on Sunday, the Falcons play a home game at Joondalup's Provident Financial Oval for the first time when they host the Tigers.
It's a big game for Claremont too who are coming off a loss last week to East Fremantle but remain on top of the WAFLW ladder coming into Round 4 on the back of their impressive first up victories against Swan Districts and Subiaco.
It has been tough going for West Perth in its first two WAFLW matches. The Falcons didn’t manage to score in a 74-point Round 1 loss to South Fremantle. They did kick a goal last week but still ended up losing to Swan Districts by 89 points.
West Perth has made just the one change from the team that lost to Swan Districts last week with Tayla Anthony coming in for the Falcons and Megan Norbury going out.
Claremont suffered its first loss of the season last week to East Fremantle and from that team, Tess Blackburn, Kobi Nichols, Julia Uhe, Jacinta Valentini and Mikayla Western come in to play West Perth.
Emily Bennett, Jorja Elisseou, Sarah Garstone, Madeleine Scanlon and Mackenzie Webb go out for the Tigers.
SWAN DISTRICTS v SUBIACO
Swan Districts and Subiaco last met in last year's preliminary final and they resume hostilities in Round 4 of the 2022 WAFLW season on Sunday at Steel Blue Oval.
It was Swan Districts who prevailed against Subiaco in last year's preliminary final to earn a spot in the Grand Final against Peel Thunder and to end the season of the Lions adding that extra intrigue for their first meeting of 2022.
Both the Swans and Lions come into the game on Sunday having won just one of their first three games of the season, but those victories came last weekend for each of them.
After Swan Districts opened the new season with losses to Claremont and East Fremantle, the black-and-whites recorded their first win of the season beating West Perth by 89 points also at Steel Blue Oval.
From that win for Swans, Tara Stribley, Ashley Sharp and captain Jess Cox were all in good form to be named to the WAFLW Team of the Week.
Subiaco suffered losses to Peel and Claremont to open the season but also broke through to beat South Fremantle last Friday night for their first victory of 2022.
Liana Burchell, Madison Dodd, Tarni Golisano and Hanna Dethlefsen all impressed enough in that win to earn a spot in the Team of the Week.
Swan Districts scored its first win of the season over West Perth last week and from that team, Isabella Edgley, Chanel Jetta, Sophie Proudfoot, Shannan Rene, Amber Ugle-Hayward and Courtney Zappara have been added to the squad to take on Subiaco.
Shanae Davison and Sonia Dorizzi are the players named out for the black-and-whites so far.
Subiaco beat South Fremantle last Friday night for their first win of the season and from that line-up, Cheney Armstrong, Abbey Dowrick, Claudia Langley, Dahna Lee, Clare McCarthy and Jess Pillera all come in for the Lions.
Scout McCormack and Amy Mulholland are the two players out for the Lions so far.
