The Mt Lawley Inglewood JFC, known as the Roos, have been an integral piece of the East Perth Football Club’s local zone for decades.
In 2022, The Roos have undergone the biggest change of its 50-year history. As well as moving into brand new clubrooms in a new location, the Roos have revamped every element of the club.
The completion of the Roos’ new pavilion, built by the City of Stirling across two ovals at Hamer Park in Mt Lawley, follows the installation of 100-lux light towers and coincides with the launch of a new brand and the club's 50th anniversary celebrations.
“It has taken five years of hard work by our committee, so to say we’re excited to see it all come together at once is the understatement of the year,’’ club president Lisa Quartermain said.
“All our fund-raising efforts and preparations to upgrade everything in time for the new clubrooms opening in our 50th year means the Roos are set for an historic season and a really bright future.
“We are introducing, for the first time, indigenous jumpers for every team - designed by local artists. We have a new logo designed by one of our dads, new sponsors coming in, new uniforms for players and coaches, new merchandise for kids and parents, a new website and we’re better placed than ever before to get girls’ footy off the ground.
“Our Hamer Park clubrooms will finally allow us to provide excellent facilities for all players and visitors, both boys and girls, as well as umpires and officials, volunteers and spectators. We have disability access, an amazing kitchen behind Roos Chews, and a function space for about 150 people, so there’s really no end to what can be achieved in future.
Last year, the club recorded an incredible 481 junior participants from Pre-Primary to Year 12. The move to Hamer Park will facilitate further growth, with an expectation they will reach 500+ participants in season 2022.
Metro Central Regional Development Council, East Perth Delegate Shaun Hughes said “Moving to a start-of-the-art club room at Hamer Park, only a stone’s throw from their previous home, it will allow the exceptional growth of the membership and player base to continue.
Mr. Hughes went on to say “A huge congratulations goes to Lisa Quartmain, the current committee as well as those that trod the path before them in getting to 50 years and may the next 50 years be as successful as the previous.”
Exciting times are certainly ahead for Mount Lawley-Inglewood.
