The West Australian Football Commission congratulates two greats of WA Football with Rob Wiley and Merv McIntosh honoured at the Australian Football Hall of Fame tonight.
A Giant of our game, Perth ruckman Merv McIntosh now rightfully sits as a legend.
Inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame as an inaugural inductee in 1996, a 25-year wait sees the three-time Sandover Medallist an Australian Football Legend.
The imposing ruckman won a premiership with Perth in his final game in 1955, to sit nicely alongside three Sandover Medals and six best and fairests.
McIntosh played his entire career in Western Australia, underpinning his role as a pioneer of this sport in WA.
He is the third West Australian to be named a Legend, following Graham 'Polly' Farmer and Barry Cable.
Rob Wiley enters the Australian Football Hall of Fame off the back of a tremendous career across Perth, Richmond and West Coast.
Wiley was a champion Perth rover whose brilliance helped the Demons to two flags and four grand finals in his first five senior seasons, claiming the best-and-fairest award for every one of those seasons.
Wiley also played a key role in back-to-back flags in 1976-77, the last premierships to this day won by the Demons.
The former Richmond premiership player was inducted into the WA Football Hall of Fame in 2004 and now sits as one of the very best this state has seen.
