WAFC Statement: COVID-19 Restrictions June 2021Sunday, June 27, 2021 - 1:16 PM

Following today’s announcement by the WA State Government regarding Phase 1 restrictions in the Perth and Peel regions from 12.01pm, Sunday June 27, the West Australian Football Commission has issued an update for all participants and clubs.  

WAFL, WAFLW & Talent Programs 

The WAFLW Preliminary Final between Swan Districts and Subiaco will go ahead this afternoon at Steel Blue Oval, with spectators unable to attend the event.

Clubs must abide by the 2 square metre rule and indoor gatherings must be restricted to 30 people. There must be no spectators, including parents, families and friends, at games or training sessions.   

As per WA State Government restrictions, Steel Blue Oval must have no more than 150 people in attendance, including players and officials.

Masks will be mandatory indoors, on public transport, and outside where physical distancing is not possible. Players must wear masks indoors, including changerooms, while coaches are to wear masks in coaching boxes.

Currently, Round 13 of the WAFL and WAFLW Grand Final are anticipated to proceed as scheduled next weekend, however the WAFC will be guided by any further directions and health advice from the WA State Government.

All training sessions over the next three days across WAFL, WAFLW and the WA State Talent Programs can proceed but must follow all requirements currently in place by the WA State Government, as listed above. 

The WAFL Women’s Awards scheduled to take place tomorrow night have been postponed. Details around the re-scheduling of the event will be announced in due course.  

Junior Football

All Metro Junior Competitions can proceed this afternoon, with a limited number of spectators able to attend.

As per WA State Government restrictions, clubs must have no more than 150 people in attendance at any matches this afternoon, including players and officials.

Clubs must abide by the 2 square metre rule and indoor gatherings must be limited as per WA State Government restrictions. 

Masks are mandatory indoors for anyone over the age of 12 (including in changerooms and club rooms) and must be worn outside if social distancing is not possible.   

Auskick sessions across Perth and Peel have been completed for the weekend. 

Training sessions across all Junior Competitions and Auskick centres over the next three days can proceed but must follow all requirements currently in place by the WA State Government, as listed above. 

Senior Community & Regional Football

All Senior and Community competitions in the Perth and Peel regions can proceed this afternoon, with a limited number of spectators able to attend.

As per WA State Government restrictions, clubs must have no more than 150 people in attendance at any matches this afternoon, including players and officials.

Clubs must abide by the 2 square metre rule and indoor gatherings must be limited as per WA State Government restrictions. 

Masks are mandatory indoors for anyone over the age of 12 (including in changerooms and club rooms) and must be worn outside if social distancing is not possible.   

All Country competitions outside of the Perth and Peel region can proceed as normal. If you have been in the Perth & Peel region, you must abide by the WA State Government protocols listed above, including mask-wearing indoors, in changerooms and club rooms.
