A host of great individual and team performances characterised round eight of the Simply Energy WAFL Colts competition.

This round saw Subiaco (12.7.79) defeating East Fremantle (5.7.37); East Perth (9.6.60) overcoming South Fremantle (8.5.53); Claremont (10.10.70) conquering West Perth (8.10.58); and Perth (11.6.72) beating Swan Districts (9.11.65).

Peel Thunder was the club that had the bye this weekend.

SUBIACO (12.7.79) vs EAST FREMANTLE (5.7.37)
Subiaco cemented its position in the top four, after defeating East Fremantle by 42 points at Leederville Oval.

Vice-Captain Lachlan Vanirsen led the way for Subiaco with 27 possessions, 6 marks, 4 tackles and 3 inside 50s.

Matthew Johnson (20 possessions, 6 inside 50s, 5 marks, 4 tackles, 1 goal), Nicholas Cleaver (13 possessions, 4 marks, 2 goals), Jaxon McGowan (10 possessions, 1 goal), Lachlan Henderson (15 possessions, 9 hit-outs) and Jaxon Bilchuris (13 possessions, 9 marks, 4 goals) were influential for the Lions.

For East Fremantle, Finn Gorringe was outstanding with 27 possessions, 8 marks and 2 inside 50s.

Jed Hagan (19 possessions, 2 goals), Chris Walker (16 possessions, 8 tackles, 6 marks, 4 inside 50s, 1 goal), Bohan Teakle (17 possessions, 3 tackles), Edward Curley (15 possessions, 6 tackles) were named the Sharks’ best.

SOUTH FREMANTLE (8.5.53) vs EAST PERTH (9.6.60)
East Perth secured its second victory of the 2020 Simply Energy WAFL Colts season, after overcoming South Fremantle by seven points at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

Reigning Best and Fairest winner Adam Boules was named East Perth’s best player after he finished with 29 possessions, 8 tackles, 4 inside 50s and 3 marks.

James Tunstill (20 possessions, 6 inside 50s, 5 marks, 4 tackles, 1 goal), Jason Kissack (11 possessions, 2 marks, 2 tackles), Thomas Albertsen (11 possessions, 3 marks) and Michael Thomas (13 possessions, 4 tackles, 3 marks, 2 goals) all played important significant roles to help guide the Royals to victory.

Solomon James was South Fremantle’s best player, finishing with 13 possessions, 22 hit-outs, 6 marks and 3 goals.

Jaxon Bellchambers (28 possessions, 5 inside 50s, 5 tackles, 4 marks), Angus Fraser (22 possessions, 7 tackles, 5 inside 50s), Oscar Armstrong (20 possessions, 6 marks, 3 tackles), and Riley Clayton (14 possessions, 6 inside 50s, 3 tackles, 2 marks) were prominent for the Bulldogs.

CLAREMONT (10.10.70) vs WEST PERTH (8.10.58)
Claremont returned to the winners’ list, after conquering West Perth by 12 points at Revo Fitness Stadium.

Jacob Blight was rock solid in defence for Claremont, finishing with 26 possessions and 3 marks.

Kieran Gowdie (7 possessions, 11 hit-outs, 4 marks, 2 goals), Ben Ramshaw (13 possessions, 7 inside 50s, 4 marks), and Logan Guelfi (15 possessions, 7 inside 50s, 4 marks, 3 tackles) were brilliant for the Tigers.

For West Perth, Kellen Johnson was fantastic, upon his return from injury, with 14 possessions, 5 marks, 4 tackles and 4 inside 50s.

Kane Bevan (10 possessions, 4 marks), Darcy Dixon (6 possessions, 3 goals), Jordan Berry (14 possessions, 4 marks), and Corey Rundle (14 possessions, 4 marks) competed strongly for the Falcons.

SWAN DISTRICTS (9.11.65) vs PERTH (11.6.72)
Perth remains in finals contention, after beating Swan Districts by seven points in a thrilling contest at Steel Blue Oval.

Zac Sanderson was inspirational for the Demons with 29 possessions, 10 marks, 6 inside 50s and 5 tackles.

Zak Melconcelli (21 possessions, 8 marks), Harry Quartermaine (12 possessions, 3 marks, 3 goals), Jaiden Hunter (15 possessions, 39 hit-outs, 1 goal), and Jack Evans (17 possessions, 5 inside 50s) were prolific for Perth.

For Swan Districts, Ayden Cartwright was exceptional with 18 possessions, 5 marks and 3 goals.

Zane Trew (22 possessions, 9 tackles, 5 marks, 3 inside 50s), Jamison Ugle (13 possessions, 9 tackles, 4 inside 50s), and Cian Elhers (15 possessions, 5 inside 50s, 4 marks) were the Swans’ best.
