The Goldfields Football League supported by the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and Doubletree by Hilton has formed a unique partnership to cover the cost of registration for all Auskickers from Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Coolgardie and Kambalda.
West Australian Football Commission Goldfields Regional Manager Gemma Harrison said this was an unprecedented event for the region.
"Many of my remote Auskick centres gain small pockets of funding to cover the cost associated with the program but never have we seen it at this magnitude," she said.
"Within 48 hours, we hit over 150 participants although do hope to get upwards of 300 for the season."
"Parents and supporters of the programs were quick to comment on the positive nature of this initiative and I certainly commend the Goldfields Football League, in particular Lane Tomich, Chairman, for their unwavering support and focus on this sector of our game."
"It is anticipated, with GFL club support, that these Auskickers will successfully transition into junior football and continue to grow regional participation."
