WAFC congratulates 2019 AFL DrafteesFriday, November 29, 2019 - 10:19 AM

The West Australian Football Commission congratulates the 19 WAFL players added to AFL lists via the 2019 NAB AFL National and Rookie Drafts.

This included 14 in the National Draft, three in the Rookie Draft and two as Category-B Rookies.

This was in addition to the six players added to AFL lists since the 2018 AFL Draft as pre-season supplemental selections or in the AFL Mid-Season Draft.

 WAFC CEO Gavin Taylor congratulated all of the players selected and wished them every success as they strive to make their AFL debut.
 
“This is a great result, not only for the players, but for WA Football overall. It really demonstrates the depth of the talent pool right across the State, from the metro area and throughout the regions.”
 
“I would like to thank all of the clubs, coaches, volunteers, talent pathway staff, family members and friends who have helped make it possible for these players to achieve their dream of being drafted.”
 
WAFC State Talent Manager Adam Jones also congratulated the 2019 AFL Draftees and encouraged those who hadn’t received an opportunity at this year’s Draft to remain committed in 2020.
 
“There are more opportunities than ever for players to get onto an AFL list, with supplemental and Mid-Season Drafts still to come,” he said.
 
“I really encourage any player that is still pursuing their AFL dream to stay focussed, keep training hard and improving as a player. The WAFL has a proud history of developing top talent and is a great competition to keep furthering your football career.”
