Round 15 Optus WAFLW PreviewFriday, August 23, 2019 - 5:25 PM - by Chris Pike

THIS weekend will see the final round of the inaugural WAFL Women's season and it's an especially important game on Saturday for Claremont against East Fremantle.

Round 15 of the inaugural 2019 Optus WAFLW Premiership Season will bring to a close the home and away season and it includes a crucial match up between Claremont and East Fremantle.

The Tigers and Sharks will lock horns at the newly renamed Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday morning with Claremont to finish in third position with a win while East Fremantle will end up in second spot should they prevail.

The other Round 15 WAFLW match up will take place on Sunday afternoon at Leederville Oval with the ladder-leading Subiaco hosting the wooden spoon bound Peel Thunder.

Swan Districts has the bye but will finish the season with a 7-5 record and will either finish in second or third position depending on the result between Claremont and East Fremantle.

Round 15 in the WAFLW competition begins on Saturday morning at Claremont Oval and that game will be livestreamed via the WAFL website and Facebook page with Claremont taking on East Fremantle.

Both teams come into the game with identical 6-5 records so given this is the final round of the home and away season, the winner will finish above the other.

And because of their superior percentage, East Fremantle will also leapfrog Swan Districts into second position with a victory as well.

While a win for Claremont will see the Tigers finish the season in third position.

A loss for either team will mean they finish in fourth position no matter what.

East Fremantle had the bye last weekend and prior to that lost to Swan Districts by a goal on the back of an impressive nine-point win against the minor premier Subiaco.

Claremont, meanwhile, went goalless last week in a 49-point loss to Subiaco coming off a 19-point win against Peel but the week before that the Tigers had also only kicked the one goal in a 52-point defeat at the hands of Swan Districts.

The two teams have already met twice during the season with Claremont winning two thrillers by scoring 4.5 (29) on both occasions. That led to a one-point win in Round 5 and a two-point victory in Round 10.

The season will then conclude on Sunday afternoon at Leederville Oval in a top against bottom clash between Subiaco and Peel Thunder.

Peel will just be looking to finish the season with a competitive showing while Subiaco will want to keep their impressive form going heading towards the finals with both teams locked into finishing first and last no matter the result.

Subiaco had a dominant 49-point win against Claremont last week where they kept the Tigers goalless while Peel scored just the one goal in a 68-point defeat at the hands of Swan Districts.

The teams have already met twice so far this season with Subiaco winning both games by 51 points in Round 5 and by 44 points in Round 10.
