EAST Fremantle, Peel Thunder, Claremont and Subiaco all scored victories in Round 18 of the WAFL Colts on Saturday and while the top five teams look set, positions ahead of the finals are becoming hotly contested over.
It does appear that the top five teams are locked away in the colts season for 2019 with the fifth placed West Perth holding a two-game and significant percentage advantage over the reigning premier Subiaco.
And while Peel Thunder is guaranteed of finishing on top and winning the minor premiership, the other four teams inside the top five are all only separated by one game so with two rounds to go they could all finish anywhere from second through fifth.
All four Round 18 colts matches took place on Saturday starting with East Fremantle beating East Perth 9.12 (66) to 5.8 (38) at East Fremantle's New Choice Homes Park.
It was then top against bottom at Fremantle Community Bank Oval with form going along with ladder positions as Peel Thunder beat South Fremantle 14.10 (94) to 3.5 (23).
The only match featuring two finals bound teams then took place at Claremont Oval with Claremont prevailing 11.8 (74) to 8.9 (57) against West Perth.
Subiaco and Swan Districts then did battle on Saturday evening in Kalgoorlie and that saw the reigning premier Lions come away with the 12.8 (80) to 8.8 (56) win in their home zone.
The results mean that Peel Thunder (12-2) remains out clear on top of the colts but that's when it really gets interesting from there with two rounds to go.
Claremont (9-5) sits in second position with East Perth (9-6), Swan Districts (8-6) and West Perth (8-6) rounding out the top five.
East Fremantle (6-9) remains in sixth position ahead of Subiaco (6-8), Perth (4-10) and South Fremantle (2-12).
ROUND 18 SIMPLY ENERGY COLTS
EAST FREMANTLE 9.12 (66) defeated EAST PERTH 5.8 (38)
East Fremantle might not be able to reach the finals in the colts for 2019 but they continue to show impressive form with a 28-point win over the finals bound East Perth.
The Sharks have left their run late to be in form in the colts and sitting two games outside the top five with just the one match remaining against Perth this weekend means that they won't be able to break into the top five.
But they appear set to end the season with plenty of momentum following another impressive showing on Saturday against East Perth at New Choice Homes Park.
The Sharks dominated from the outset kicking the only three goals of the first quarter to lead the Royals by 19 points by quarter-time.
East Fremantle kicked another two goals to one in the second term to head into the half-time break with a commanding 25-point lead.
The Royals again went goalless in the third quarter while the Sharks added another two goals to be on top by 39 points at the last change.

Chad Warner finished with 30 possessions for the Sharks, Trent Rivers 25, Finn Gorringe 25, Jai Jackson 23, Lachlan Taylor 19 and Oscar Hitchcock 18.
But it was ruckman Luke Jackson who was the dominant player in the game ending up with 24 possessions, 27 hit outs and a goal.

SOUTH FREMANTLE 3.5 (23) lost to PEEL THUNDER 14.10 (94)
The day began at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday with Peel Thunder further consolidating top spot in the colts beating the bottom placed South Fremantle by 71 points.
Peel continues to be the dominant team this colts season and that always meant the job was ahead of the bottom placed South Fremantle on Saturday morning even if they were on home soil.
Peel shot out of the blocks quickly as well to stamp their authority and the Thunder kicked the only four goals of the first quarter to lead by 24 points at quarter-time.
The Thunder then kicked another four goals in the second quarter while holding South Fremantle scoreless to mean the visitors went into half-time leading by 52 points.
The Bulldogs remained goalless through three quarters adding just three behinds in the third term while Peel kicked two more goals to be 62 points on top by three quarter-time.
South Fremantle did kick three goals in the last quarter but Peel also managed another four to come away with the 14.10 (94) to 3.5 (23) victory.

CLAREMONT 11.8 (74) defeated WEST PERTH 8.9 (57)
Claremont and West Perth met on Saturday at Claremont Oval as two teams setting up to take part in the finals of the colts, and it was the Tigers who came away with the 17-point victory.
It was a hot opening to the game with both teams combining for seven goals and by quarter-time that saw Claremont in front by just the three points.
The Tigers then pulled away in the second term holding the Falcons to just the two behinds while kicking three goals themselves to head into the half-time interval leading by 22 points.
Claremont added another two goals to one in the third quarter and then despite West Perth booting four goals to two in the last, the Tigers still came away with the 11.8 (74) to 8.9 (57) victory.
Kade Lines kicked four goals for Claremont and Ben Elliott three.
Leno Thomas collected 24 possessions for the Tigers, Jack Cooley 24, Joel Western 23, Jye Clark 19, Louis Passera 18 and ruckman Callum Jamieson 15 to go with 27 hit outs and a goal.
Tommy Taylor-Shreeve kicked two goals for West Perth from 14 possessions and four tackles.

SUBIACO 12.8 (80) defeated SWAN DISTRICTS 8.8 (56)
The Swan Districts and Subiaco colts travelled to Kalgoorlie to do battle on Saturday evening with the Lions ending up beating Swans by 24 points.
For the second time in the past month, the colts competition went to the country after Claremont and Perth had played in Albany back in Round 15, and this time it was the Subiaco-zoned city of Kalgoorlie that hosted the Lions and Swans on Saturday evening.
It was a tight opening to the contest under lights in Kalgoorlie with Subiaco leading by only five points at quarter-time in the Grand Final rematch from last year.
Subiaco then began to pull away in the second term kicking three goals to just two from Swan Districts to head into half-time with a 16-point buffer.
The Lions added another three goals to two in the third term, and then four goals to three in the last to end up winning 12.8 (80) to 8.8 (56) despite all but being out of finals contention against the finals bound Swan Districts.
Sandon Page kicked four goals for Subiaco with Abraham Clinch and Patrick Mullane booting two apiece.
Jake Turner, Mullane, Page, Levi Duckyers and Ben Golding were all among the better players on the night for the Lions.
Thomas Edwards kicked four goals for Swan Districts with singles to Kade Wallrodt, Jamison Ugle, Ryan Letessier and Jermarl Daly.
Jehb O'Donohue, Max Chipper and Thomas Edwards were among the better performers for Swan Districts.
