ROUND 12 in the WAFL Women's competition is again spread over Saturday and Sunday this weekend with Swan Districts hosting Claremont, and Subiaco playing East Fremantle.

Round 12 of the 2019 Optus WAFLW Premiership Season features two fascinating match ups with two teams fighting over top spot, and then the third and fourth placed sides also locking horns.

The bottom placed Peel Thunder sits out the round with just the one win from the opening nine games of the inaugural WAFLW season having only managed to kick four goals in total over their last four matches.

Round 12 action in the WAFLW competition gets underway on Saturday afternoon at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval with Swan Districts hosting Claremont from 12.15pm.

Then on Sunday afternoon at Leederville Oval from 2pm, Subiaco plays East Fremantle with that game available to be viewed via livestream at the WAFL website and Facebook page.

The clash on Saturday afternoon at Steel Blue Oval between Swan Districts and Claremont will be a fascinating one.

It will be played as the lead in to the WAFL contest later in the afternoon between Swan Districts and the West Coast Eagles as well. 

So with the Swans reserves and Youth Girls having the bye along with the colts and reserves also not playing this WAFL weekend, the WAFLW and WAFL games will be the only contests featured at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday in what should be a fascinating afternoon.

Swan Districts come into the game on the back of having played their last two WAFLW matches against Subiaco. 

Swans did defeat the league-leading Lions by 14 points back in Round 9 before a two-week break leading into last week's contest where they lost by a solitary point at Leederville Oval.

Claremont, meanwhile, had the bye last weekend so have now had three weeks in between matches since the Tigers defeated East Fremantle by two points back in Round 10 at Claremont Oval. 

They had the bye prior to that as well so the Tigers haven’t had much game time in recent weeks heading into Saturday's clash with Swan Districts.

The two teams have already played one another twice this season with Swan Districts winning by 36 points back in Round 2 at Steel Blue Oval. Swans also prevailed by 14 points in the return clash at Claremont Oval in Round 7.

Coming into the game, Swans are sitting in fourth position on the WAFLW ladder with a 4-5 record while Claremont is third at 5-3 so there's plenty at stake come Saturday afternoon.

Then on Sunday, it should be another tremendous contest with Subiaco hosting East Fremantle at Leederville Oval.

Subiaco remains on top of the WAFLW ladder with a 7-2 record but East Fremantle now isn't too far behind at 5-4.

Making things even more interesting is that the two teams are only separating by 2.24 per cent so there's every chance that should East Fremantle score the win on Sunday that the Sharks finish the round with the best percentage in the competition and sitting just one game behind on the ladder.

However, a win for Subiaco would not only see their percentage remain above East Fremantle's but would also move them three games clear and all but secure the minor premiership for the Lions.

Coming off meeting in last year's WAWFL League grand final, the two teams have played twice already in this inaugural WAFLW season with Subiaco winning at Leederville Oval by 11 points in Round 2 and by 20 points at New Choice Homes Park in Round 7.
