THERE was just the one game in the WAFL Colts competition in Round 16 and that saw Swan Districts snap its losing run at the expense of South Fremantle on Saturday at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

With the WAFL clubs having their matches spread across Rounds 15 and 16 with each of them playing one match and having a bye, three of the colts fixtures took place last weekend and just the one in Round 16 on Saturday.

Back in Round 15, that saw East Fremantle beat Peel Thunder by 12 points, East Perth defeat West Perth by 15 points and then Claremont beat Perth by 65 points in their clash that took place in Albany.

The lone fixture in Round 16 took place on Saturday morning at Fremantle Community Bank Oval and that saw Swan Districts snap its losing slide at the expense of South Fremantle, winning 11.6 (72) to 5.11 (41).

Following 16 rounds in the WAFL colts competition, Peel Thunder remains out on top of the table with a 10-2 record.

That has them two games clear of four teams who have all won eight matches with Claremont (8-4), West Perth (8-4), Swan Districts (8-5) and East Perth (8-5) round out the top five.

There is a four-game gap to the rest of the field with East Fremantle (4-9) in sixth position in front of Subiaco (4-8), Perth (4-9) and South Fremantle (2-10).

SOUTH FREMANTLE 5.11 (41) lost to SWAN DISTRICTS 11.6 (72)

The lone colts contest in Round 16 took place at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday morning with Swan Districts prevailing by 31 points against South Fremantle.

Coming off last year's Grand Final appearance, Swan Districts' colts started the 2019 season on fire winning the opening seven matches. But when that winning run ended at the hands of Claremont, it sparked a run of five consecutive losses heading into Saturday's clash with South Fremantle.

That was a South Fremantle team on its own five-match losing streak having won just the two matches so far this season under new coach Luke Tedesco.

That meant both clubs came into Saturday's clash determined to return to the winners list and it was a tight opening term with two goals apiece and South Fremantle taking a three-point lead into quarter-time.

Swan Districts then took over the contest in the second quarter kicking three goals to nil with the Bulldogs managing just the one behind. That saw the black-and-whites go into the half-time break with a 17-point advantage over South Fremantle.

Swans continued to dominate the contest in the third quarter kicking another five goals and holding South Fremantle to just the three behinds as they opened up a match-winning 45-point lead at the last break.

South Fremantle did at least finish strongly with three goals to one in the last quarter but Swan Districts still won 11.6 (72) to 5.11 (41).

Atem Deng produced a tremendous performance for Swan Districts kicking four goals to go with 20 possessions. Thomas Edwards also kicked two goals for the black-and-whites.

Brenton Hilton racked up 31 possessions for Swans, Ethan Nordahl 30, Noah Hannah 23, Kade Screaigh 22, Hudson Babich 22, Ashley Brockbernd 22, Max Chipper 21 and Ben Taylor 21.

South Fremantle's goal scorers were Jermaine Pickett, Lachlan Johnson, Nash Miller, Aiden Hall and Ira Jetta.

Jetta also racked up 33 possessions for the Bulldogs to go with eight inside-50 entries, six tackles and five marks.

Manfred Kelly collected 24 disposals for South Fremantle, Brodie Plunkett 14, Jaxon Bellchambers 13, Tyson Headland 13, Aiden Hall 13, Liam Bradford 13 and Nash Miller 13 to go with 25 hit outs and four marks.
