THE WAFL Women's competition resumes this weekend for Round 11 action with Swan Districts attempting to back up its win a fortnight ago against Subiaco with East Fremantle also playing Peel Thunder.

The WAFLW season took a break last week for the State Game that took place at Steel Blue Oval last Saturday with Queensland defeating the WAFL Women's State Team by 26 points.

Now the 2019 Optus WAFLW Premiership Season returns to a normal round of action this weekend with plenty on the line for the four teams involved while Claremont has the Round 11 bye.

Round 11 in the WAFLW competition gets underway on Saturday afternoon with a rematch from three weeks ago with Subiaco hosting Swan Districts at Leederville Oval.

The game gets underway at 2.30pm with swans looking to back up their win two weeks ago which improved them to a 2-2 record while the Lions bounced back from that defeat with a win two weeks ago against Peel Thunder.

The other game in Round 11 takes place on Sunday afternoon from 2pm with East Fremantle hosting Peel Thunder at East Fremantle's New Choice Homes Park.

The game will be available via livestream for those not in attendance via the WAFL website and Facebook page.

Swan Districts' last game this Optus WAFLW Premiership Season was three weeks ago when they hosted Subiaco and scored an impressive 14-point victory at Steel Blue Oval.

Swans haven’t played since with the club having the bye in Round 10 of the WAFLW competition and then the league having a general bye for last week's State Game which saw Queensland take away the victory also held at Steel Blue Oval.

So now Swans are finally back in action following that impressive win three weeks ago against the league-leading Subiaco and it just happens to be the Lions they come up against once more.

This time the game will take place at Leederville Oval on Saturday afternoon, with bounce down to take place at 2.30pm.

Swan Districts' win three weeks ago against Subiaco improved the black-and-whites to a 4-4 record on the season but now following the bye, they are back in fourth position on the ladder.

However, a win on Saturday and depending on the result of the East Fremantle-Peel Thunder clash, a win would see Swan Districts potentially improve to second position on the ladder again by Saturday evening.

That performance back in Round 9 against Subiaco showed just how potentially good Swan Districts can be with a well-balanced line-up.

Swan Districts is getting good service in the ruck from Alicia Janz as she works with midfielders Sarah Condipodero, Stephanie Cain, Mikayla Bowen and company.

Once again like it was three weeks ago, the wing battle between Swan Districts' Ashley Sharp and Subiaco's Lindal Rohde should be a tremendous one.

Gemma Houghton was best on ground in that win three weeks ago for Swan Districts but she's out of the team this time around but the Swans' forward-line does still consist of the likes of Imahra Cameron, Shanae Davison, Mikayla Hyde  and Kellie Gibson.

The Swan Districts' back-line has been tremendous as well led by Fiona Boucher and Lauren Osborne.

But it's a tough Subiaco team that Swan Districts will be trying to beat for a second time in as many games.

The Lions did respond to their loss to Swans by beating Peel Thunder by 44 points prior to last week's State Game.

On that occasion, Beatrice Devlyn kicked two goals for Subiaco and Jessica Ritchie, Jayme Harken and Lindal Rohde were all tremendous.

With Subiaco looking to win and further extend its hold on top spot and Swan Districts potentially to improve to second with a win, it should be a tremendous Saturday afternoon contest.

Then on Sunday afternoon, East Fremantle takes on Peel Thunder from 2pm at New Choice Homes Park.

East Fremantle comes into the game in third position on the WAFLW ladder with a 4-4 record while Peel Thunder remains anchored to the bottom having won just one of eight matches to date.

The Sharks come into the game following a narrow two-point loss to Claremont last up before the State Game at Claremont Oval while also two weeks ago, the Thunder went down to Subiaco by 44 points in Mandurah.

Prior to that was the last meeting between East Fremantle and Peel for the season, and on that occasion the Sharks proved too strong for the Thunder winning by 39 points at David Grays Arena.

Now in Sunday's game, the Sharks will be looking for the win to move up into second position on the ladder but Peel are no pushovers despite having just the one win on the board to date in 2019.
