THE 2019 WAFL Colts competition is taking shape in fascinating fashion with Peel Thunder remaining clear in top spot but then West Perth, Swan Districts, East Perth and Claremont jostling for spots, and reigning premiers Subiaco breathing down the necks.
The first colts contest of the round took place at Claremont Oval and it was Claremont who kept themselves comfortably in fifth position by defeating the bottom place South Fremantle 13.10 (88) to 5.4 (34).
Reigning premiers Subiaco kept its finals hopes alive as well with a strong 11.14 (80) to 5.10 (40) against East Fremantle at Leederville Oval.
Swan Districts and East Perth took their colts contest to Bunbury to be played on Saturday afternoon and it was the Royals who proved too strong, defeating Swans 8.9 (57) to 6.7 (43).
Then on Sunday afternoon at HBF Arena, West Perth and Perth's colts did battle with the Falcons ending up winning 13.8 (86) to 7.5 (47).
Following 13 rounds of the 2019 colts season, it's Peel Thunder still out on top of the ladder despite the bye this weekend. They still remain clear with a 9-1 record and by far the best percentage in the competition.
West Perth has now moved clear in second position with an 8-3 record to sit just ahead of Swan Districts (7-4) and East Perth (7-4) with Claremont (6-4) rounding out the top five.
Subiaco (4-7) is two games further back in sixth position despite its win on Saturday followed by Perth (3-8), East Fremantle (2-9) and South Fremantle (2-8).
