IT was back to a full round of WAFL Colts action on Saturday with all four matches taking place with Peel Thunder rocketing to top spot on the ladder while West Perth closed the gap on Swan Districts handing the black-and-whites their second defeat of 2019.

Following a couple of weekends where there were just the two matches played in the colts competition and with players continuing to be unavailable across the board because of duties with the West Australian team in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, it continued to create plenty of intrigue and surprising results in Round 11 of the 2019 season.

The round got underway on Saturday morning at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval and Swan Districts suffered a second straight loss and conceded top spot on the ladder for the first time in 2019, with West Perth running out 11.10 (76) to 7.4 (46) victors.

Then at Claremont Oval, East Perth pulled off a terrific performance to consolidate fourth position and remain a game clear of Claremont as the Royals defeated the Tigers 9.10 (64) to 7.9 (51).

Peel Thunder emerged as the standout team right now in the colts competition with last year's preliminary finalists moving a game and clear on top with a thumping 18.11 (119) to 3.6 (24) win over Perth at Lathlain's Mineral Resources Park.

The last game of the round took place at Fremantle Community Bank Oval and reigning premiers Subiaco kept in touch with the top five by beating South Fremantle 15.11 (101) to 4.5 (29).

Following Round 11 of the colts competition, it's Peel Thunder (8-1) clear on top of the ladder now ahead of Swan Districts (7-2) and West Perth (6-3) with East Perth (5-4) and Claremont (4-4) rounding out the top five.

Perth (3-6) is just outside in sixth position in front of Subiaco (3-6), East Fremantle (2-7) and South Fremantle (2-7).

ROUND 11 SIMPLY ENERGY COLTS

SWAN DISTRICTS 7.4 (46) lost to WEST PERTH 11.10 (76)

Swan Districts fell to its second colts defeat in as many weeks at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday morning with West Perth continuing its good form and winning by five goals.

Just two weeks ago and Swan Districts was clear on top of the colts table having won all seven of its matches to open the season.

But coming off that first defeat last week at the hands of Claremont, Swans suffered another defeat on Saturday morning this time at the hands of the Falcons who were able to continue their good form.

It was a goal apiece in the opening quarter but West Perth did have five scoring shots to one but only led by those four behinds at quarter-time.

The Falcons started to put the score on the board a bit better in the second quarter kicking three goals to two from Swans to head into the half-time break leading by nine points.

West Perth further extended its advantage in the third quarter coming out of the half-time interval. The Falcons kicked four goals to two from Swans and by three quarter-time they were well in control leading by 24 points.

West Perth kicked another three goals to two in the last term and that saw the Falcons claim the 11.10 (76) to 7.4 (46) victory.

The result means that Swan Districts slips to a 7-2 record on the season in second position on the ladder behind Peel Thunder. They are now just one game ahead of the third place West Perth too who improved to 6-3 with the win.

Corey Rundle was terrific in attack for West Perth kicking four goals while Cooper Blackburn booted three majors and Koopah Todd two to go with 32 possessions, eight marks and six inside-50 entries.

Heath Chapman also picked up 32 disposals for the Falcons, Callum Johnson 21, Tom Menaglio 21, Tyron Hindmarsh 21, Blackburn 17 and Henry Ryan 16.

Zak Patterson battled hard in the ruck for 11 touches, four marks and 24 hit outs.

Atem Deng was tremendous for Swan Districts kicking two goals to go with 26 possessions and eight marks.

Ethan Nordahl also amassed 26 disposals for the black-and-whites, Kade Wallrodt 21, Jermarl Daly 20, Brenton Hilton 19, Brock Fisher 18, Jak Watson 16 and Jamison Ugle 17.

Ryan Letessier put in a solid showing in the ruck with 11 possessions, three tackles, 23 hit outs and a goal.
 

CLAREMONT 7.9 (51) lost to EAST PERTH 9.10 (64)

It was a tight colts contest at Claremont Oval on Saturday morning with East Perth edging ahead of Claremont on the ladder as a result of the eventual 13-point victory.

With Claremont coming into the game with a 4-3 record and East Perth at 4-4, it was always going to be a game with plenty on the line and that would have little separating the two sides, and that's exactly how it panned out.

It was two goals apiece in the first quarter with East Perth leading narrowly by two points at quarter-time.

Things opened up further in the second stanza and that benefited the Royals as they kicked four goals to just one from the Tigers to hold a 20-point advantage heading into the half-time interval.

Claremont closed the gap slightly in the third quarter by kicking two goals to one from East Perth, but then it was two goals apiece in the last term with the Royals holding on to win 9.10 (64) to 7.9 (51).

That win improves East Perth to a 5-4 record on the season in fourth position while Claremont is fifth at 4-4.

Sebit Kuek, Luke Furlong and Rhai-Arn Cox all kicked two goals each for East Perth in the win.

Sam Van Diemen racked up 19 possessions for the Royals, Adam Boules 19, Cody Nash 16, Kade Dittmar 16 and Josh Ladhams 16 to go with 24 hit outs.

Joel Krauss kicked two goals for Claremont as the Tigers' only multiple goal scorer.

Jye Clark amassed 30 possessions for Claremont, Joel Western 25, Tom Baldwin 22, Kade Lines 21, Jack Cooley 16, Louis Passera 16, Logan Young 16 and Luke Knight 15 along with 38 hit outs.
 

PERTH 3.6 (24) lost to PEEL THUNDER 18.11 (119)

Peel Thunder consolidated its spot on top of the colts competition and pulled further away with a thumping 95-point win against Perth at Lathlain's Mineral Resources Park on Saturday morning.

Peel's lone loss this colts season came back at Round 6 against Claremont at Claremont Oval, but outside of that the Thunder have been supremely impressive and dominant coming off reaching last year's preliminary final.

Due to its superior percentage, Peel shot to the top of the ladder last week at the expense of Swan Districts and then moved further clear as a result of the performance on the road on Saturday against the Demons.

Peel opened up the game in the first quarter by kicking six goals to two to already hold a 27-point lead against Perth.

The Thunder kept the momentum rolling in the second term with five more goals to one to hold a 50-point lead at the half-time break.

Perth then didn’t manage a solitary point in the third quarter with Peel kicking three more goals as their lead grew to 71 points.

The Demons then scored just the two behinds in the last term with the Thunder kicking four more goals to end up winning 18.11 (119) to 3.6 (24).

The win improved Peel to an 8-1 record on the season and a tremendous percentage to be a game and percentage clear of the second place Swan Districts.

Perth slipped to a 3-6 record in sixth position.

Jonathon Ietto and Ben Middleton both kicked four goals apiece for Peel with Andrew Butler also kicking three majors and Zachary Rankin two.

Brad Oldfield gathered 25 possessions for the Thunder, Jarvis Pina 21, Jackson Knight 18, Rankin 18, Isiah Winder 18, Kilian Rawson 17 and Butler 16. Brendan Cooke had 38 hit outs in the ruck.

Simon Hayward was the standout performer for Perth finishing with 26 possessions, six tackles and two goals.

Nathan O'Driscoll also finished with 24 disposals and 11 tackles for the Demons with Jacob Radomiljac collecting 15 touches, Bailey Smith 15 and Tarkyn Brogan-Henry 15.
 

SOUTH FREMANTLE 4.5 (29) lost to SUBIACO 15.11 (101)

Subiaco might have had a slow start to its premiership defence in the colts competition in 2019 but they are now warming to the task nicely following a 72-point win over South Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday.

Subiaco won the colts premiership in 2018 but then opened up the 2019 campaign with losses to East Perth, East Fremantle, Peel Thunder and Swan Districts before breaking through for its first victory in Round 6 against South Fremantle.

It was again South Fremantle the opponent on Saturday this time at Fremantle Community Bank Oval and the Lions continued their charge towards the top five with a thumping victory against the Bulldogs.

After going scoreless against South Fremantle in that first meeting of the season at Leederville Oval to quarter-time, this time it was Subiaco holding the Bulldogs to just the two behinds while kicking five goals themselves.

It was then two goals apiece in the second quarter but that saw Subiaco in control leading by 31 points at half-time.

The Lions booted another four goals to one in the third term and then four goals to one in the last to record the commanding 15.11 (101) to 4.5 (29) victory.

The win improves Subiaco to a 3-6 record on the season while South Fremantle is 2-7 as a result of the loss.

Nick Martin kicked four goals for Subiaco from 17 possessions and eight marks while Tyler Broughton kicked three majors and Sandon Page two.

Ben Golding amassed 30 possessions for the Lions with Abraham Clinch collecting 28 disposals, Jed Kemp 25, Broughton 19, Jack McIntosh 18, Matthew Johnson 17 and Harvey Bishop 16.
