In response to the incident involving a Junior Umpire last weekend, the WAFC is promoting ‘Thank & Respect the Umpire Round’ this weekend.
Community clubs will be asked to address their playing group pre-game explaining that sides will be thanking and respecting the umpires for the integral roles that they play in our game.
Each coach will be asked to acknowledge the umpire and shake their hand prior to and at the completion of the fixture.
The WA Football Commission encourages coaches and leaders of community football clubs to also communicate to spectators, parents and volunteers, the vital part that all umpires play in community football.
WAFC CEO Gavin Taylor thanked the 2000 umpires who make 1230 games of community football possible every weekend,
“I say a sincere thank you on behalf of the WA Football community for the key contribution you make to our great game,” he said.
“I look forward to acknowledging umpires during the ‘Thank and Respect the Umpire Round’ this weekend and encourage all clubs across the State to support this important initiative in a united show of support for WA umpires.”
Please help us show respect to all umpires this weekend.
