The final term of school is now underway and that means the WA Football Commission’s (WAFC) Nightfields footy program is set to kick off this month.
Nightfields is an AFL-based program delivered to kids and youth between the ages of 6 and 18 at more than 20 targeted locations across WA.
The after school footy program was developed by the WAFC and is run in partnership with WA Police, various Local Governments, and Shires as well as a broad range of local service providers and state sporting associations.
The program aims to engage children and youth in sporting activities and help link them to social, community and health services.
The program has also been able to link participants to local sporting clubs, and education, which has assisted in reducing anti-social behaviour.

The sessions will feature a range of sporting activities including skill development, modified games and matches.
AFL will be the main sport played during the program but participants will also be offered netball, soccer, little athletics, cricket and rugby which will be delivered by qualified coaches at certain Nightfield centres.
Food and youth support is also offered at each session thanks to Headspace, PCYC, YMCA and a range of other organisations.
