Emmanuel Catholic College has won the Senior Schoolboys Cup Cable Division for the first time, defeating CBC Fremantle by 31 points in the Grand Final at McGillivray Reserve on Wednesday, June 27.
Emmanuel Catholic College made their mark in the opening half of the match, kicking four goals and keeping CBC Fremantle goalless.
CBC Fremantle fought back in the second half but couldn't quite overcome Emmanuel Catholic College who claimed the win, 6.8 (44) to 1.7 (13).
WA Football Commission School Specialist David Lindsay congratulated Emmanuel Catholic College on their triumph.
“It’s a fantastic achievement to win the Cable Division and very special for Emmanuel Catholic College to win for the first time," he said.
"The team's performance was very impressive and they thoroughly deserved their victory.”
Neil Erani was named best player for Emmanuel Catholic College and Fremantle CBC’s best player was awarded to Riley Reece-Turner. Both players received a match ball for their efforts.
The Rhys Kampen Medal for the best player across the season was awarded to Liam Porter from Emmanuel Catholic College.
