The West Australian Football Commission congratulates WA State 18s AFLW coach Trent Cooper on his appointment as Fremantle Football Club AFLW senior coach.

WAFC CEO Gavin Taylor said he was pleased that Cooper, who has been WA's State 18s AFLW coach since 2017, had received the opportunity to continue his contribution to female football at the highest level.

"Trent has been a key part of WA's female talent academy since commencing in the role at the beginning of last year and it is great to see him get the recognition and reward he deserves," Taylor said.

"The WAFC is committed to supporting a female talent pathway that not only sees talented players reach their full potential, but also coaches, administrators, umpires and support staff. Trent's progression to AFLW senior coach at Fremantle is a great testament to this."

"We wish Trent and the Fremantle AFLW team every success for the season ahead and look forward to continuing to develop a high performance academy that supports the success of the AFLW competition and female football in WA."

"I would also like to recognise Trent's contribution to WA Football as a community coach with Curtin Wesley and Wesley College, and as a WAFL Colts coach with Swan Districts, where he guided them to a premiership in 2014," he said. 

Cooper will continue as WA State 18s AFLW coach for the remainder of the 2018 AFLW National 18s Championships.

WA won the opening two games of the Championships against Queensland on July 2 and 4. WA's upcoming opponents include Vic Metro on July 9, Eastern Allies on July 11 and Vic Country on July 13.
