Round 8 Match PreviewsThursday, May 24, 2018 - 12:09 PM - by Chris Pike

ROUND 8 of the WAFL gets underway with East Perth and Swan Districts battling over cementing a position inside the top five while East Fremantle and Peel Thunder desperately need four points and then Subiaco and South Fremantle look to keep winning against Perth and Claremont respectively.

All four matches in Round 8 of the 2018 WAFL season take place on Saturday afternoon beginning at Leederville Oval at 1.40pm with East Perth playing Swan Districts.

The Royals enter the game in fourth position with a 4-2 record while Swan Districts is fifth at 3-3 heightening the importance of the contest with both teams coming off losses at the hands of South Fremantle.

The game will be live on Channel 7 from 1.30pm.

The other three matches all have the bounce down time of 2.15pm including East Fremantle and Peel Thunder at East Fremantle Oval.

The Sharks have lost their past five matches including the last four by an average of 76 points while the Thunder have won just one of five matches since a Round 1 15-point victory over East Fremantle at Bendigo Bank Stadium.

Perth is coming off a thrilling victory against Claremont last Saturday by a point but now faces the unenviable task of playing Subiaco at Lathlain Park on Saturday. Subiaco has won all six of its matches in 2018 by an average of 79 points.

The last match of the round pits an in-form team up against one desperate for a win too with South Fremantle hosting Claremont at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

The Bulldogs have now won five straight matches since a first up loss to Subiaco while the Tigers are struggling winning just one of six games and that only came with a goal on the siren.

West Perth has the bye sitting in third position with a 4-3 record on the season.
