ROUND 6 of the 2018 WAFL season saw top two teams Subiaco and South Fremantle overcome strong challenges from West Perth and Swan Districts while Peel Thunder got back on the winner's list and East Perth cruised to a fourth successive victory.

Three of the four Round 6 matches took place on Saturday afternoon with South Fremantle beating Swan Districts 16.11 (107) to 14.10 (94), Subiaco defeating West Perth 13.10 (88) to 10.6 (66) and Peel Thunder downing Claremont 14.14 (98) to 11.12 (78).

The round then concluded on Sunday afternoon with East Perth making it four straight beating East Fremantle 10.21 (81) to 6.12 (48).

It was the last round in the WAFL before next Saturday's State game against South Australia in Adelaide with Subiaco remaining clear on top of the ladder with a perfect 5-0 record.

South Fremantle (4-1) is second ahead of East Perth (4-1), West Perth (3-3) and Swan Districts (3-3).

Peel Thunder (2-3) sits sixth ahead of Perth (1-4), Claremont (1-4) and East Fremantle (1-5).

Subiaco was refreshed from the bye and four big wins to open the season, but West Perth was coming off two good wins and was motivated to take it right up to the Lions.

The Falcons made an encouraging start too leading by 15 points midway through the second term. But the Lions responded to kick 11 of the game's last 16 goals to win by 22 points.

Kyle Halligan kicked four goals for Subiaco, Rowen Powell two, Ben Newton two and Brad Stevenson two.

Captain Kyal Horsley amassed 40 possessions for the Lions, Leigh Kitchin 27, Hayden Kennedy 26, Chris Phelan 25, Greg Clark 24, Craig Hoskins 21 and Jacob Miller 21.

Tyler Keitel kicked two goals for West Perth while Aaron Black amassed 36 touches, Shane Nelson 29, Corey Chalmers 26, Luke Meadows 25, Trent Manzone 22 and Blake Wilhelm 22.

South Fremantle won its fourth straight game beating Swan Districts by 13 points despite the absence of Ashton Hams, Haiden Schloithe, Steven Edwards and Blayne Wilson.

Cory Dell'Olio, Blaine Johnson and Matthew Parker kicked three goals each for the Bulldogs with Brandon Donaldson and Mason Shaw booting two apiece.

Marlion Pickett was best afield for South Fremantle with 30 possessions, seven tackles and a goal with Shane Hockey picking up 25 disposals, Nick Suban 24, Brandon Donaldson 22 and Dylan Main 20.

Corey Gault kicked four goals for Swan Districts with Brayden Noble also booting four and Matthew Rogers three to go with 24 possessions and seven marks.

Rhys Palmer collected 25 possessions for Swans, David Ellard 24, Tobe Watson 21 and Jackson Slater 20.

Peel Thunder and Claremont did battle at Bendigo Bank Stadium with both teams looking for their second win of the season. In the end, Peel proved too strong winning on home turf by 20 points.

Luke Strnadica kicked three goals for Peel, Gerald Ugle two, Leroy Jetta two and Michael Tassone two.

Danyle Pearce gathered 33 possessions for the Thunder, Tom Sheridan 28, Traye Bennell 27, Stefan Giro 25, Ben Howlett 22 and Shane Kersten 21.

Beau Maister kicked four goals for Claremont and James Egan three. 

Jye Bolton racked up 33 touches for the Tigers, Kane Mitchell 27, Haydn Busher 23, Tom Ledger 21 and Tom Curren 19.

Then on Sunday afternoon, the round concluded with what always loomed as a big test for the struggling Sharks against the on-fire Royals.

That’s how it panned out but East Perth's inaccuracy in the tricky conditions at least helped the final margin remaining respectable with the Royals winning by 33 points after East Fremantle had lost its last two games by a combined 184 points.

Shayne Hille and Jarrod Brander kicked two goals each for East Perth with Luke Partington gathering 29 possessions, Brayden Ainsworth 23, Sharrod Wellingham 21, Asher Samelko 20, Malcolm Karpany and Fraser McInnes 19 to go with seven marks and 29 hit outs.

Cameron Loersch kicked two goals on debut for East Fremantle while Jayden Schofield gathered another 31 disposals, Sean Henson 22, Jonathon Marsh 19, George Hampson 19 and James Bristow 19 to go with 24 hit outs and a goal.
