THE Anzac Round of the 2018 WAFL season got underway under lights at Leederville Oval with Subiaco continuing its remarkably dominant start, beating Claremont by 86 points.
The Thursday night fixture opened Round 4 of the 2018 season ahead of the two matches on Saturday with Perth playing East Perth at Lathlain Park, and Swan Districts hosting West Perth at Steel Blue Oval.
The Anzac Round concludes on Sunday afternoon at East Fremantle with a Fremantle Derby between East Fremantle and South Fremantle.
Thursday night saw Subiaco back up its big wins over East Perth, South Fremantle and Swan Districts to open the season by beating Claremont 20.15 (135) to 7.7 (49) at Leederville Oval.
It was yet another emphatic showing from the Lions with Rhys Waters kicking five goals, Brad Stevenson four, Kyle Halligan two and Zac Clarke two.
Chris Phelan racked up another 35 possessions, Kyal Horsley 31, Greg Clark 21, Leigh Kitchin 20 and Jacob Miller 20.
Matthew Palfrey kicked Claremont's three goals of the evening and finished as the Tigers' only multiple goal scorer.
Jye Bolton gathered 27 disposals, Ryan Murphy 27, Ryan Lim 24, Tom Ledger 21, Jack Beeck 20 and Oliver Eastland 20 to go with seven marks and 18 hit outs.
Then on Saturday afternoon, East Perth made it consecutive victories after its opening round loss to Subiaco beating Perth 21.10 (136) to 15.9 (99) at Lathlain Park.
Jack Petruccelle kicked four goals for East Perth, Sharrod Wellingham three, Nathan Blee two, Fraser McInnes two, Jarrod Brander two and Matthew Allen two.
Wellingham also had 25 disposals for the Royals, Brayden Ainsworth 23, Shayne Hille 22, Will Maginness 22 and Julian Ameduri 22 (14 tackles).
Kristian Cary kicked three goals for Perth, Brent Edmonds two and Cody Leggett two.
Leggett also had 31 touches for the Demons, Brant Colledge 30, Clint Jones 27 and Corey Byrne 23.
And at Steel Blue Oval, West Perth kicked the only seven goals against Swan Districts to end up winning 15.6 (96) to 9.11 (65).
Tyler Keitel kicked three goals for West Perth, Michael Lourey two, Jay van Berlo two, Keegan Knott two and Rudy Riddoch two.
Shane Nelson amassed 47 possessions for the Falcons, Corey Chalmers 28, Trent Manzone 27, Aaron Black 26, Luke Meadows 24, Blake Wilhelm 23 and van Berlo 21.
Brayden Noble kicked two goals for Swan Districts while Rhys Palmer had 30 possessions, Jesse Turner 30, David Ellard 21 and Matt Riggio 20.
And lastly on Sunday, it was the 10th consecutive Anzac Derby and South Fremantle went 6-4 in those contests with an emphatic 18.24 (132) to 5.8 (38) victory over East Fremantle.
The 94-point victory means that South Fremantle has now won each of its past nine visits to East Fremantle Oval and also won the last five matches overall against East Fremantle.
It was an amazingly dominant South Fremantle display with the Bulldogs finishing with 64 more possessions than East Fremantle, 42 scoring shots to 13 and more remarkably, 71 inside-50 entries to 19.
South Fremantle didn’t have a player who didn’t contribute with Ashton Hams kicking four goals, Brandon Donaldson three, Blaine Johnson three, Dylan Main two and Mason Shaw two.
Jacob Dragovich gathered 29 possessions for the Bulldogs, Donaldson 29, Shane Hockey 28, Haiden Schloithe 25 and Marlion Pickett 21.
Jayden Schofield gathered 23 possessions for East Fremantle, Jarrad Jansen 23 and Sean Henson 20.
