Kia to drive WA footballFriday, March 16, 2018 - 3:15 PM

Kia Motors has formed a new partnership with the West Australian Football Commission to support community football at all levels throughout the State.

The partnership will feature benefits that extend from junior football through to the West Australian Football League, including branding across community football, vehicles for WAFC development staff, and supporting the 7 Network’s television coverage of the WAFL.

Kia Chief Operating Officer Damien Meredith said the partnership was a great opportunity to drive growth for both football and Kia in Western Australia.

“We see this partnership with WA football and the WAFL competition as an exciting opportunity that fits really well with our brand and ambition to be more closely connected with the WA community,” Mr Meredith said.

“It will complement our existing relationship in WA with Fremantle Dockers legend Matthew Pavlich and extend our support further to grassroots football.”

WAFC CEO Gavin Taylor thanked Kia for their support and said the partnership would help the WAFC deliver its vision of connecting and enhancing WA communities through football, while also ensuring the WAFL remains a high-quality broadcast competition.

“To partner with a brand that has become synonymous with sport in Australia through existing partnerships with the Australian Open and Essendon Football Club is a great outcome for WA football as we enter an exciting new chapter for our game in this State,” Mr Taylor said.

“We look forward to building a strong ongoing relationship with Kia that will continue to benefit WA football, the WAFL competition, and Kia’s WA dealer network.”

“I would also like to thank outgoing automotive category partner AHG for their valued support of WA football over the past three years.”

Kia joins West Australian Football League naming rights partner McDonald’s and broadcast partner TAB Touch as supporters of the WAFL competition.

The 2018 WAFL season commences on Friday, March 30.
