Swan Districts Football Club has announced Adam Pickering as its new Senior Coach.
Pickering has been the Colts coach at East Perth Football Club for the past two seasons and is highly regarded in the West Australian football community. He has AFL playing experience at Carlton and Richmond, and also played 111 senior WAFL games at East Perth.
Pickering was also a Reserves and Assistant League Coach at Perth Football Club in 2012 and 2013, and an Assistant Coach for the WAFL State team in 2013.
Pickering thanked Swan Districts Football Club for the vote of confidence and said he was extremely honoured and humbled to be given the position of Senior Coach for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
"I cannot wait to get started and continue to build on what Greg Harding has established over the past seven seasons. I would also like to thank East Perth for their support and guidance for 12 of the past 14 years," he said.
Swan Districts Football Club CEO Jeff Dennis said the club undertook a search nationwide for a new Senior Coach and received considerable interest from many high calibre applicants.
"The aim was to recruit a person whom had the ability to build on the success of the club’s previous coach, Greg Harding. The key criteria the club looked for was the ability to build people and assist the club connect with the community. The new coach also needed to be an innovator and create an environment conducive to learning and enjoyment.
"Following a comprehensive selection process the club decided Pickering was the best candidate meeting these requirements.
“Adam personifies the club’s values of inclusive, empower, equality, integrity and community. He’s a very personable character and a strong leader and everyone at the club will find it very easy to embrace him."
Pickering has signed for a two year term commencing 1 November 2017.
