The West Australian Football Commission is calling on all footy fans to get along to the last ever Carlton Draught Derby at Domain Stadium this Sunday, July 16, in a bid to set a new attendance record.
A total of 1,795,683 people have attended the 45 Derbies played at Subiaco since 1995. The largest crowd ever was 43,527 for a West Coast Eagles home game in Round 21, 2006.
"With over 40,000 fans expected to be in attendance the atmosphere for the match should be electric and will take the total crowd figure for all 46 Derbies to more than 1.8 million," WAFC CEO Gavin Taylor said.
"We are calling on all footy fans to get along to the last Western Derby at Domain Stadium, to see if we can break the all-time Derby record for attendance.
"We encourage Fremantle members not able to attend to put their seats up for re-sale and for all West Coast fans to check out the remaining tickets still available through Ticketmaster."
To celebrate the final Derby, Domain Stadium will be offering a 'First Derby Pie Price' of $3 at all West Deli outlets until supplies sell out.
The price, which has been reduced from $5.20, is the same as the first ever Derby on May 14, 1995, which was attended by 40,356 fans.
There will also be numerous pre-game activities for fans hosted by Fremantle Football Club including the 'Purple Playground' on Market Square from 1pm and FanZone at Gate 8 featuring competitions and give ways, as well as a Royal Flying Doctor's flight simulator at Gate 10.
"A critically important match for both teams, our best ever pie offer, plus a whole range of family activities set the scene for this Derby to be truly memorable for all those in attendance on the day," Mr Taylor said.
Tickets are still available for the game through Ticketmaster via ticketmaster.com.au or 1300 135 915.
