Due to recent success, the West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) will host its third social female football carnival for women aged 18 years and over this Sunday at City Beach Oval.
More than 170 women attended last month's carnival held in Bentley which featured round-robin structured football games played on smaller sized fields, with modified rules.
This weekend’s carnival will commence at 9am and run through to 12pm. There will be music, bouncy castles for the kids and much more!
The carnival, developed by the WAFC, provides an entry-level competition for women who are wanting to play football in a social and less-competitive game environment.
The carnivals were established to scope interest for a Senior Women’s Community Competition in 2018. The WAFC is now looking at additional opportunities for the carnival participants this year.
WAFC Female Football Coordinator Allana Dickie said the carnivals have been a huge success.
“We have received nothing but positive feedback from the women who have taken part in the previous carnivals,” she said.
“Women have noted how comfortable they have felt being involved in the carnivals and how the comradery between the teams has really added to their enjoyment of the event.”
