More than 300 females were put through their paces when the first 2017 Female Talent Academy testing session was held at All Saints College on Saturday, November 12.
Participants were identified across a number of teams, clubs and competitions from the metro area and regional areas including Bunbury, Kalgoorlie and Albany.
Players underwent strength and conditioning, and tactics and skills testing coordinated by Level 2 and 3 coaches at the session.
The players’ fitness will be tested at a second session under the watchful eyes of Fremantle Dockers Women’s Coach Michelle Cowan, State Head Coaches and WAFL players and coaches.
The session will be held at Willetton Senior High School this Saturday, November 19.
With anticipation building towards the start of the AFL Women's National competition early next year, the WAFC has undergone a significant amount of work in strenthening player pathways and support structures (Talent Academies) to ensure WA continues to be an industry leader in female football development.
The WAFC is working closely with community clubs to ensure the State is well-prepared to embrace the expected new growth in female participation once the AFL Women's competition is launched.
