PLAYER OF THE WEEK – GREG BROUGHTON
Greg Broughton could well have been the cleverest, cleanest and calmest player in the WAFL in 2006, 2007 and 2008 as he was a key part in Subiaco's premiership hat-trick including winning the 2008 fairest and best.

As a result he was drafted by Fremantle in 2009 and went on to play 109 AFL games with both the Dockers and Gold Coast Suns up until the end of 2015.

The 29-year-old returned to Subiaco to continue his 75-game career in 2016 and after a slow start through injury not making his first appearance with the Lions since 2010 until Round 5, he is warming into some outstanding form again.

His performance on Saturday off half-back was reminiscent of the type of games he delivered in his pre-AFL stint with the Lions where he had 31 possessions as he now looks to help Subiaco to another premiership hat-trick, and for his fourth flag overall.

THE SHINING LIGHTS
Haiden Schloithe, Ashton Hams and Blaine Johnson all returned to the South Fremantle team and had a significant impact on the win over East Fremantle.

Schloithe was outstanding both across half-forward and then through the middle finishing with 31 possessions, eight marks, seven inside-50 entries and a goal.

Hams settled across half-back in his first game since Round 13 and was a calming influence and good ball user ending up with 20 disposals and nine marks.

Johnson was again lively in the forward-line kicking three goals from 17 possessions, five marks and four tackles while also keeping running half-back Ryan Lester-Smith to just the 14 disposals.

Tim Kelly was another shining light for the Bulldogs with the state midfielder returning to some strong form with 28 possessions, six tackles, six inside 50s and a goal.

Mason Shaw also kicked three goals for South Fremantle from 14 touches and six marks while Ben Saunders worked hard for two goals, 17 possessions, seven inside-50 entries and six marks.

Jacob Dragovich also gathered 22 possessions for the Bulldogs, Shane Hockey 21 (six tackles), Ryan Cook 20 (eight marks, one goal), Steve Verrier 17 and Zac Strom 16 (10 hit outs, seven inside 50s).

Aside from kicking the game's first two goals and then an impressive third quarter, East Fremantle was outplayed. Despite Liam Anthony (21 possessions), George Hampson (21) and Cameron Eardley (22) still having some good numbers in the midfield for the Sharks, they didn’t have their usual efficiency or impact.

Jacob Green had a breakout game in attack for the Sharks with the 21-year-old kicking four goals from 17 possessions and six marks in the 11th game of his career. But Matthew Watson and Jack Perham struggled while Brock O'Brien was off early after kicking a first quarter goal.

Captain Jamie McNamara worked hard mostly in the forward-line finishing with 24 possessions, 10 marks and a goal while another youngster Jesse Adamini was impressive with 20 disposals and six marks.

Jayden Schofield continued his good form off half-back for the Sharks with another 24 possessions and eight marks while Jake Schleicher did well for 19 disposals and James Bristow worked hard in the ruck for 15 touches and 38 hit outs.

Claremont dominated the first three quarters to set up its fifth win of the year against Peel on Saturday with the Tigers leading by 61 points at three quarter-time before going on to win by 45 points.

Debutant Jake Waterman was the star for Claremont with the 18-year-old son of West Coast dual premiership player Chris kicking five goals from 15 possessions and four marks.

Darcy Cameron also booted three goals from 17 disposals, six marks and six tackles for the Tigers, Zac Langdon two goals from 12 touches and 12 tackles, and Beau Maister kicked just the one goal but did have 16 possessions and nine marks.

Claremont's midfield also got on top starting with the efforts of ruckman Mitch Andrews up against both Jonathon Griffin and Jack Hannath. Andrews finished with 14 possessions and 25 hit outs.

Jye Bolton shook off his concussion from the previous week against East Perth to again star on the ball for the Tigers with 36 possessions while Jared Hardisty finished with 25 disposals and two goals and Ryan Lim gathered 26 touches, Tom Ledger 24 and Tom Shanahan 22.

Claremont's defence stood tall as well and was led again by Haydn Busher who was outstanding for three quarters before Michael Apeness caught fire in the last term with the result already decided. Busher finished the game with 25 possessions.

Also down back Matthew Davies gathered 24 disposals and Bailey Rogers 17.

Peel had a disappointing afternoon at Bendigo Bank Stadium with just the one behind in the first quarter as the Thunder missed a chance to move two games clear in the top five against a team out of the finals race.

Michael Apeness caught fire late in the contest and ended the game with five goals from 13 possessions and four marks for Peel while Anthony Morabito got forward late as well booting three majors from 15 disposals and five marks.

Connor Blakely responded to a surprise demotion from Fremantle in the right way by collating 31 possessions, five tackles and a goal for Peel while Clancee Pearce also worked hard for 31 disposals, five marks and a goal.

Rory O'Brien picked up another 25 possessions for Peel to go with five tackles and four inside-50 entries with Nick Suban finishing with 22 disposals, Josh Deluca 21, Andrew Haydon 20 and captain Gerald Ugle 18.

Peel had some solid performers down back including Ryan Nyhuis returning well from a knee injury with 14 possessions while Josh Mathers picked up 20 disposals and Ethan Hughes 19.

West Perth's forward-line helped ensure the Falcons kicked a winning score with Michael Lourey kicking four goals from nine kicks and six marks, and Max Duffy booting four goals as well from eight kicks and four marks.

Joel Leeson also kicked two goals in the final quarter against his former team.

The Falcons' midfield also got on top with Chris Keunen playing his best game since returning from a broken leg. He got the better of his battle with Angus Graham finishing with 17 possessions and 19 hit outs.

Shane Nelson racked up another 40 possessions for West Perth while Aaron Black had 32 disposals, Aidan Lynch 28 and Jay van Berlo 26 while Dean Munns did another outstanding tagging job holding Julian Jacobs to a career-low six disposals after averaging 25 so far in 2016.

Blake Wilhelm continued his tremendous form in the back-line for West Perth ending up with 29 possessions and six marks while Steven Browne finished with 19 disposals and eight marks.

Spencer White hasn’t been able to have the impact as a key forward he and Perth was hoping for this year because of injury, but he showed on Saturday that he's capable of being the answer as a goal kicker booting three majors from 16 possessions and six marks.

Sam Garstone continues to impress for the Demons and he kicked another two goals against West Perth with 15 disposals and seven marks. Rowan Brookes worked hard as well for 20 touches, five marks and a goal.

Clint Jones had another strong game in the midfield for Perth with 35 possessions in what was his 100th WAFL game after his first 84 were with South Fremantle prior to his 149-game AFL career with St Kilda. He has now been outstanding in his 16 games with Perth in 2016.

Liam McKenna picked up 30 disposals for the Demons, Cody Leggett 27 and Aidan Tropiano 21.

Michael Sinclair had another tremendous performance off half-back for Perth with 36 possessions and 13 marks while Brent Edmonds picked up 19 disposals and Brent Latch 18.

Subiaco dominated Swan Districts from the outset at Medibank Stadium as you would expect when it's top against bottom. The Lions kicking the only three goals of the first quarter and five to one for the opening half before another 10 goals to four in the second half to win by 74 points.

Hamish Shepheard dominated for two and-a-half quarters at full-forward for Subiaco before going off with a thumb concern. Swan Districts had no answer for him in the absence of captain Tallan Ames and Shepheard booted six goals from 14 possessions and eight marks.

Clancy Wheeler also booted three goals from 19 disposals and six marks for the Lions with Wayde Twomey going forward late to kick a couple of goals to go with 23 possessions and eight marks against his former side.

Subiaco captain Kyal Horsley returned and immediately regained the form he was in with 30 possessions and eight inside-50 entries with Leigh Kitchin racking up 28 disposals, Craig Hoskins 24 and Chris Phelan 20.

Greg Broughton dominated off half-back for the Lions with 31 possessions while also down back Jordan Lockyer had 22 touches and nine marks, Will Fetherstonhaugh 20 possessions and Joel Latham 19 disposals.

It was another tough afternoon for the wooden spoon bound Swan Districts but again Matt Riggio (34 possessions, seven marks) and Adam Faulkner (30 touches) worked tirelessly in the midfield.

Jesse Turner also finished with 24 disposals for the black-and-whites, Tony Notte 21 (eight marks, eight tackles), Justin Simpson 20 (seven marks) and Brandon Erceg 19 (10 marks).

Laurence Grescos was one shining light for Swan Districts doing a strong defensive job holding the dangerous Liam Ryan to one goal and four kicks while having 16 disposals and five marks himself.

RESERVES STANDOUTS
The reserves contest took place after the league game at Fremantle Community Bank Oval with South Fremantle holding on to win a thriller over East Fremantle 13.10 (88) to 12.10 (82).

Jesse Mirco kicked three goals for the Bulldogs with Tom Vandeleur and Brayden Andrews booting two apiece but it was Brandon Donaldson who starred on return to the reserves with five goals from nine kicks.

Dylan Main racked up 35 possessions for South Fremantle, Matthew Ah Siu 28, Bailey Matera 25, Steven Edwards 25, Tim Stewart 25, James Laurino 21, Jake Florenca 21 and Noah Strom 14 to go with seven tackles and 24 hit outs in the ruck in the absence of the injured Josh Branchi.

Dylan Coulthard, Lewis Krakouer, Carl Green and Jeffrey Carter all kicked two goals each for East Fremantle while Conor Regan finished with 26 possessions, James Harrold 24, Tim Bristow 23, Tyler Chalwell 20, Dylan Winton 19, Green 19 and Tom Marshall 19.

Claremont's reserves thumped Peel Thunder 21.16 (142) to 4.7 (31) at Bendigo Bank Stadium.

Jack Richardson and Gerrick Weedon kicked three goals each for the Tigers with Jack Beeck, Ben Higgs, Justin Speed, Eddie Simpson and Keanu Shandley all adding two apiece.

Beeck also finished with 32 possessions for Claremont, Keifer Yu 30, Justin Speed 29, John Williams 22, Jack Richardson 21, Ian Rowe 20 and Bailey Banfield 19.

Nick Merritt and Luke Shepherd kicked two goals each for Peel with Keegan Power gathering 34 possessions, Corey Morris 23, Chris Wrigley 19 and Haydn Matthews 18.

Perth's reserves also recorded a strong 19.11 (125) to 14.13 (97) victory over West Perth at HBF Arena.

Marshall Jones was impressive in attack for Perth kicking five goals with Kristian Cary booting three, and Jacob Payne, Matt Thompson and Cody Ninyette two apiece.

Taran Etto gathered 27 possessions for the Demons, Fraser Millar 25, Payne 25, Brett Wolfenden 24, Kurtis Chester 21 and Cary 19.

Corey Chalmers and Matt Johnson both kicked four goals apiece for the Falcons with Keegan Knott also booting two to go with 18 possessions and seven inside-50 entries.

Mitch Peirce finished with 30 possessions and 10 marks for the Falcons, Brayden Antonio 23, Scott Nelson 19 and James Batterham 17.

Matt Guadagnin played his first game back from his knee reconstruction and looked good in just over a half of game time with 14 possessions.

Subiaco's reserves defeated Swan Districts 14.12 (96) to 10.9 (69) at Medibank Stadium.

Ryan Vermeersch booted five goals for Subiaco, Kalani Scarrott two and Max Walters two to go along with 30 possessions.

Matt Bogensperger racked up 35 touches for the Lions, Shaquille McKenzie 26, Braden Fimmano 22, Jacob Miller 21, Mitch McPhee 21 and Greg Clarke 21.

Ben Whitsed finished with 26 possessions and two goals for Swan Districts with Shannon Stack also booting two goals while Albert Dean had 34 disposals, Ethan Maguire 27, Josh Cipro 23, Aidan Clarke 22 and Ben Gillard 18.

REDiMED COLTS RISING STARS
The colts began the day's action at Fremantle Community Bank Oval with South Fremantle beating East Fremantle 10.10 (70) to 3.7 (25).

Shai Bolton kicked three goals and Jesse Mason two while Daniel Burke gathered 27 possessions, Kyle Russell 23, Bruno Faulkner 23, Regan Spooner 23, Chad Pearson 21, Deng Maguang 20, Zac De San Miguel 19, Bolton 17 and Travis Abbott 17.

Ruckman Tim English delivered a dominant performance in the middle for the Bulldogs as well finishing with 24 possessions, 11 marks, 15 hit outs and a goal.

Hamish Rodgers booted two of East Fremantle's three goals for the game with Ben Harding compiling 24 possessions, Corey Holmes 22, Kyle Baskerville 21 and Matthew Burton 20.

Claremont's colts kicked 10 goals to one in the opening three quarters at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Saturday evening on the way to a 15.14 (104) to 4.6 (30) victory over Peel Thunder.

Jacob Sideris and Ben Durbridge kicked three goals apiece for the Tigers while Corey Mitchell booted two.

Josh Bennett racked up 29 possessions for Claremont, Sam Petrevski-Seton 28, Jake Stergiou 27, Jack Blaauw 27, Sideris 23, Callan England 18, Sebastian Bentley 19, Ben Rushforth 18 and Oliver Eastland 18.

Jeremy Goddard also dominated the ruck with 21 possessions, 30 hit outs and a goal.

Jackson Capurso kicked two of Peel's four goals while Jakeb Shine finished with 16 possessions, Brandon Penny 16 and Matthew Dean 15.

The colts contest began proceedings on Saturday at HBF Arena with Perth ending up beating West Perth 15.6 (96) to 12.7 (79).

The Falcons made a flying start with seven goals to two in the first quarter but the Demons kicked the only five of the second term and then six goals to one in the last to end up winning by 17 points.

James Bereyne booted five goals for Perth with Trent Simpson adding three and Lindsay Martin two.

Chris Leonard racked up 23 possessions for the Demons, Bradley Pattison 20, Braydon O'Dea 19, Joseph Ugle 18 and Cody Kickett 17.

Oscar Allen kicked four goals for West Perth to go with 15 possessions, nine marks and 14 hit outs. Lachlan Johns added two goals for the Falcons with 18 disposals and five marks.

Joel Horgan picked up 26 touches for West Perth, Josh Hunter 20, Alec Johnson 18, Nick Marinovich 17 and Tyrese Miller 16.

Swan Districts' colts scored a thumping 20.4 (124) to 5.7 (37) victory over Subiaco at Medibank Stadium on Saturday morning.

Giles Dent kicked five goals from eight kicks for Swans with Jonathan Armstrong booting four majors, Riley Garcia three, Tobe Watson two, Brayden Spackman two and Brendan O'Kane two.

Taryce Stewart amassed 26 possessions for the black-and-whites, Watson 25, Jarrod Shorter 22, Mitchell Price 19, Lochie Huntley 19, Jordan Falco 18 and Greg Humphries 18.
