SOUTH Fremantle regained top spot on the WAFL ladder with the Bulldogs ending West Perth's seven-game winning streak in Round 14 while Subiaco kept pace with them and Perth and Swan Districts scored rare wins over teams in the top five.

South Fremantle conceded top position last week to Subiaco by percentage but the Bulldogs' 16.6 (102) to 9.13 (67) win over West Perth on Saturday at HBF Arena was enough to see them move back into first place.

Subiaco fell to second despite the Lions also winning having to fight hard to beat Claremont 15.11 (101) to 11.9 (75) at Medibank Stadium.

Two more teams in the top five also suffered losses on Saturday with East Perth's hopes of playing finals again in 2016 increasing even with the Royals having the Round 14 bye.

It was a significantly undermanned Peel Thunder that hosted the bottom placed Swan Districts at Bendigo Bank Stadium, and the black-and-whites won their second game of the season 18.10 (118) to 12.7 (79).

Perth also got its fourth win of the season handing East Fremantle consecutive losses with the Demons winning 15.14 (104) to 14.9 (93).

The game of the round coming into the weekend was at HBF Arena with West Perth putting its seven-game winning streak on the line against South Fremantle who was looking to regain top spot.

South Fremantle had the breeze in the first quarter and led by 13 points at quarter-time before West Perth dominated the second term but kicked just three goals with scores level at half-time.

It was then all the Bulldogs in the second half as they kicked the first seven goals after the break to set up the eventual 35-point victory that saw them reclaim top spot.

The win was all the more impressive for South Fremantle with Ashton Hams, Haiden Schloithe and Adam McIntosh all missing, and state midfielder Tim Kelly held to just 10 disposals by West Perth tagger Dean Munns.

It was a different group of players stepping up in the midfield for South Fremantle with Jacob Dragovich racking up 27 possessions, Tim Stewart 22 and Jacob Martinez 18 while Shane Hockey gathered 23 disposals and Ryan Cook 22.

Shaun Bewick enjoyed his day against his old club with 24 possessions and 13 marks while South Fremantle's forward-line was terrific with Ben Saunders kicking six goals, Mason Shaw four, Brandon Donaldson two and Blaine Johnson two.

Andrew Strijk kicked four goals for West Perth with Shane Nelson again prolific in the midfield racking up 40 possessions. Aaron Black also had 30 disposals, Tyler Keitel 25, Luke Meadows 21, Jay van Berlo 21, Steve Potente 21 and Aidan Lynch 20.

Luke Tedesco was a late inclusion for West Perth for Laine Rasmussen and brought up his 150-game milestone.

Subiaco had to fight hard to overcome a committed Claremont outfit at Medibank Stadium but the Lions wore the Tigers down as the day wore on and ended up winning by 26 points.

Liam Ryan kicked four goals for Subiaco, Ben Sokol three, Hamish Shepheard two and Dylan Clarke two.

Captain Kyal Horsley racked up 32 possessions for the Lions, Leigh Kitchin 21, Craig Hoskins 21, Shepheard 18, Brett Mahoney 18 and Wayde Twomey 18.

Beau Maister kicked three goals for Claremont, Jack Bradshaw three and Harrison McCracken two with Jye Bolton gathering 33 possessions, Ryan Lim 28, Jared Hardisty 24, Tom Ledger 21, Haydn Busher 20 and Ian Richardson 20.

Ruckman Mitch Andrews was terrific for the Tigers with 22 touches, seven marks and 39 hit outs.

East Fremantle looked set to make a real charge to be a premiership fancy when beating South Fremantle back on WA Day, but the Sharks have now lost since to Subiaco and Perth to be fighting for a finals spot now.

Perth came out a committed and desperate outfit eyeing off a fourth win of the season and the Demons had all the answers after quarter-time to record the 11-point victory.

Cody Leggett was the surprise star of the day for Perth. Having taken on run-with roles since returning to the league side, he was a focal point in attack on Saturday and it worked remarkably well with him kicking a career-best seven goals from 18 possessions and seven marks.

He had to play as the forward target with Sam Garstone required in the ruck after Angus Graham went down early in the game. Garstone was clearly the best ruckman on the ground with 20 possessions, seven marks and 28 hit outs up against both Jake Solomon and James Bristow.

Brennan Stack also returned to the Perth side to kick three goals while Aidan Tropiano played his best game of the season up against his former club with 33 possessions and 14 tackles.

Clint Jones also had 30 disposals, Liam McKenna 27, Julian Jacobs 27, Michael Sinclair 21, Laine Wilkins 21 and Lennon Marlin 20.

Brock O'Brien kicked four goals for East Fremantle, Brett Peake three, Fraser Perry two and Lewis Krakouer two while Jamie McNamara gathered 25 possessions, Jayden Schofield 25 and Dion Anthony 21.

With Fremantle decimated by injuries, that has filtered down to Peel with the Thunder fielding only three AFL-listed players against Swan Districts and the struggling Swans took full advantage to win their second game of the year to the tune of 39 points.

Ricky Cary enjoyed his return to the team booting six goals with Adam Faulkner best afield with 30 possessions and three goals.

Jacob Burnham, Todd Banfield and Justin Simpson all kicked two goals each with Matt Riggio gathering 27 disposals, Albert Dean 25, Tony Notte 23, Warrick Wilson 23, Freddie Clutterbuck 23, Burnham 22, Matt Rogers 21, Simpson 21, Banfield 20 and Cary 20.

It was tough going for Peel but veteran Rory O'Brien didn’t stop trying finishing with 38 possessions, six tackles and a goal.

Josh Mathers, Blair Bell, Jake Dowding and Karl Collard kicked two goals each for Peel with Andrew Haydon having a career-best 30 disposals, Josh Deluca 20 and Calvin Thorne 20.
