Saturday Round 11 McDonald's WAFL ResultsSaturday, May 28, 2016 - 10:13 PM - by Chris Pike

SUBIACO bounced back in style by thumping East Perth in Saturday's Round 11 WAFL action with West Perth and Peel Thunder also recording strong wins to see both entrench themselves further in the top five.

Three of the four Round 11 match ups took place on Saturday afternoon and it was Subiaco who made quite the statement against Medibank Stadium co-tenants East Perth, winning 25.12 (162) to 9.9 (63).

West Perth shook off a determined Perth to win 11.12 (78) to 8.4 (52) at Lathlain Park and Peel Thunder started strongly against East Fremantle to set up an impressive 11.12 (78) to 7.10 (52) victory at ATOM Stadium.

The round will conclude on Sunday at the Claremont Showground with Claremont taking on Swan Districts. Bounce down is 12.10pm and the match will be telecast live on Channel 7.

Subiaco had lost two of its last three matches heading into the clash with East Perth following an 11-game winning streak.

Coach Jarrad Schofield made a statement after last week's loss to West Perth sending Ben Sokol, Shaquille McKenzie and Max Walters to the reserves and with Lachlan Delahunty, Brett Robinson, Wayde Twomey, Jordan Lockyer, Hayden Kennedy and Kyle Halligan all absent, the Lions had some questions to answer.

They did that emphatically romping to the 99-point victory to consolidate second position on the ladder dominating from the start with seven goals to one in the first quarter, six to three in the second, six to two in the third and six to one in the last.

It was some fresh faces having the impact on the scoreboard for Subiaco as well with Hayden Yarran kicking five goals on debut as did Liam Ryan while Simon Moore kicked four.

Dylan Clarke returned to the team to kick two goals from 22 possessions with captain Kyal Horsley, Greg Broughton, Craig Hoskins and Hamish Shepheard all booting two apiece as well.

Aaron Heal had to step up as an undersized ruckman and worked hard opposed to both Paul Johnson and Jonathan Giles for Subiaco.

Chris Phelan also racked up 28 possessions for the Lions, Leigh Kitchin 24, Broughton 24, Brett Mahoney 22, Will Fetherstonhaugh 19, Horsley 18 and Hoskins 18.

Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls was a positive for East Perth kicking three goals in his return to the league side for his first game since Round 4, but the Royals continue to sorely miss experienced players Kyle Anderson, Craig Wulff and Garry Moss.

Kane Lucas finished with 29 disposals for the Royals, Mitch Fraser 23, Corey Adamson 23, Tom Lamb 18, Fraser McInnes 18 and Tom Barrass 18 to go with eight marks.

East Fremantle entered its clash with Peel in hot form having won four straight matches but it was the Thunder who made a flying start and led all afternoon before ending up winning by 26 points at ATOM Stadium.

The result leaves both teams on a 6-4 record respectively and both will take on a top two team next week with East Fremantle facing South Fremantle in the WA Day Foundation Derby while Peel takes on Subiaco on Saturday.

Peel was in control of the contest from the outset to make it consecutive victories with Michael Apeness, debutant Brad McGowan, Josh Deluca and captain Gerald Ugle all kicking two goals each.

Darcy Tucker amassed 29 possessions for the Thunder, Rory O'Brien 28, Tendai Mzungu 27, Anthony Morabito 21, Brad Walsh 21 and ruckman Zac Clarke 19 to go with five marks and 39 hit outs.

East Fremantle didn’t have the same zip as it did in wins over East Perth, Subiaco, Perth and Claremont, and the absence of the on-fire George Hampson without doubt played a part in that with captain Jamie McNamara and defender Sam Read also going out of the side.

Tim Bristow and Matthew Watson kicked two goals for the Sharks with Jayden Schofield picking up 26 possessions, Liam Anthony 23, Josh Cuneo 23, Ryan Lester-Smith 22, Sean Henson 22, Tim Bristow 21 and James Harrold 19.

Perth made a strong start with the first two goals against West Perth at Lathlain Park, but in the end West Perth finished the stronger including the last three goals to end up winning by 26 points.

The win is West Perth's fifth in succession to improve to a 6-4 record and remain secure inside the top five while it's also the Falcons' eighth straight win over the Demons. West Perth hasn’t lost at Lathlain Park either since 2004 winning 11 of the 12 visits in that time intersected by a 2008 draw.

Michael Lourey kicked three goals for West Perth with Rohan Kerr and ruckman Seva Mozhaev booting two apiece. Mozhaev's two goals in quick succession in the second quarter were his first two goals of 2016.

Shane Nelson had another strong performance in the midfield for West Perth racking up 33 possessions with Kerr continuing his outstanding form with 30 touches, 12 marks and the two goals. Aidan Lynch also had 22 disposals, Aaron Black 22 and Jay van Berlo 19.

West Perth's back-line was terrific led by Nick Rodda who was superb in repelling Perth attacks one after another finishing with 19 touches and eight marks.

Tyler Keitel also had 19 touches and seven tackles, Blake Wilhelm 19 disposals and Andrew Strijk 23 possessions and nine marks most of which came when he moved down back after half-time.

Perth's midfield was again prolific with Julian Jacobs racking up 36 possessions, Clint Jones 31, Liam McKenna 27, Aidan Tropiano 27 and ruckman Angus Graham 15 to go with six marks, 44 hit outs and a goal.

Sam Garstone kicked two first quarter goals for Perth while down back, Lennon Marlin had a good battle with Michael Lourey and had 20 touches and 10 marks himself.

Toby Gianatti did well holding Andrew Strijk quiet in the first half and had 20 disposals himself with Brent Edmonds doing well keeping Max Duffy quiet. Michael Sinclair also finished with 21 possessions in the back-line for Perth.
