THE West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) has promoted Facility Services Manager Paul Lekias to General Manager of Domain Stadium following an extensive internal interview process.
Mr Lekias has worked as Facility Services Manager at Domain Stadium for the past three years and prior to that was involved with Strategic Facilities Projects at the WAFC since 2011.
He fills the position vacated by former General Manager Gavin Taylor after his appointment as WAFC Chief Executive Officer in April.
Mr Taylor said that Mr Lekias had provided visible and effective leadership across the organisation, and successfully managed the execution of a number of key events including NAB Challenge games in regional areas and the 2015 Indigenous All Stars match.
He has also managed major commercial contracts, Domain Stadium’s ongoing HSE accreditation program, and staffing strategies for 350 casual stadium employees, including leading the workforce’s transition onto a new Enterprise Agreement in 2015.
“Paul has been a key member of the Perth Stadium Management team for a number of years and has proven his ability to lead in this area of our business at the highest standard,” Mr Taylor said.
“I congratulate him on his appointment and am confident he has the ability to lead Domain Stadium through a significant transition over the next two years as we prepare for AFL games to move to the new Perth Stadium.”
Mr Lekias said he was excited to formally commence in the position and looking forward to the opportunities ahead.
“We must ensure that Domain Stadium continues to operate at the highest level until it is no longer required for AFL or other major events and I’m looking forward to working with our team to achieve that outcome,” he said.
“We have set very high standards in customer service and satisfaction with our fan-first approach over the past few years and I am committed to continued improvement in these areas.
“I’m also looking forward to working more closely with our AFL clubs, staff, suppliers and all other stakeholders to continue to improve their experience at Domain Stadium.”
