EAST Perth and Swan Districts scored their first wins of the 2016 McDonald's WAFL Premiership Season in Round 4 on the weekend while Subiaco stayed unbeaten and East Fremantle was impressive against last year's grand finalist.

The round got underway on Saturday afternoon with East Fremantle kicking the first six goals on the way to beating West Perth 14.17 (101) to 7.9 (51) at ATOM Stadium.

East Perth also got on the board in 2016 kicking four of the last five goals to beat Peel Thunder 15.14 (104) to 11.8 (74) at Bendigo Bank Stadium.

Then on Sunday, Claremont kicked six goals to one in the first quarter and dominated just about all areas except the scoreboard against Swan Districts, and paid for it with Swans the last four goals to win 13.5 (83) to 10.17 (77) at Steel Blue Oval.

And finally Subiaco booted 12 of the first 13 goals to set up a 14.9 (93) to 4.19 (43) victory over Perth at Lathlain Park.

Following four rounds, Subiaco (4-0) sits atop the ladder ahead of the also unbeaten South Fremantle (3-0). East Fremantle (2-1) is third ahead of Peel Thunder (2-2), Claremont (1-2), West Perth (1-3), Perth (1-2), East Perth (1-3) and Swan Districts (1-3).

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – COREY ADAMSON
Two years ago, Corey Adamson was pursuing his professional baseball career but now in his second-year on West Coast's list as a non-registered rookie, and he showed that he could very well have an AFL future on Saturday.

In his best game with East Perth since joining the Eagles, Adamson spent the majority of the game against Peel Thunder in the midfield in the absence of Chris Masten, Mark Hutchings and Luke Partington from the previous week.

And not only did Adamson stand tall in the middle racking up 24 possessions, but he got forward to kick three important goals as the Royals' broke through for their first win of the season to the tune of 30 points. 

THE SHINING LIGHTS
East Perth headed to Mandurah to face Peel in a rematch of last year's first semi-final desperate to win after losing the opening three games of 2016.

That didn’t start well with Peel leading by 14 points in time-on of the first quarter, but East Perth was able to steady and hold a three-point lead by half-time.

That had stretched to 17 points shortly before three quarter-time and despite two early last quarter goals to Jack Hannath and Matt Taberner that kept Peel in touch, East Perth finished the better.

Two last quarter goals to Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls and then a roving goal by big man Jonathan Giles to his ruck partner Paul Johnson was enough to see the Royals run away 30-point winners.

Corey Adamson had the best game of his career with East Perth with the ex-baseballer playing most of the game in the midfield and delivering 24 possessions and three goals.

First-year West Coast draftee Matthew Allen also kicked three goals while Oakley-Nicholls and Patrick McGinnity booted two.

McGinnity was a strong contributor in the midfield as well for the Royals with 25 possessions with Kane Lucas gathering 29 disposals, Craig Wulff 23, Julian Ameduri 22, Steven Payne 21, David Roche 20, Brant Colledge 20 and Tom Cole 19.

Tom Barrass did well down back limiting the impact of Peel big men Jack Hannath and Jonathon Griffin when they were forward, while Kyle Anderson had a good battle with Matt Taberner.

Despite the loss, there was a host of strong performers for Peel and none better than Anthony Morabito playing his first game since Round 23, 2014. Coming off half-back, he was terrific with 23 possessions, six marks and four inside 50s.

Hayden Crozier was outstanding in the midfield with 30 possessions, eight tackles and three goals while Griffin was the best ruckman in the game with 36 hit outs, 11 disposals and seven marks.

Taberner kicked three goals for Peel as well with Brayden Lawler and Gerald Ugle booting two apiece.

Rory O'Brien racked up 33 disposals, Calvin Thorne 20, Brady Grey 19 and Brad Walsh 18.

East Fremantle kicked the opening six goals of the game and despite West Perth's efforts to try and mount a fight back in the second and third quarters, the Sharks added another four goals to nil in the last term to win by 50 points.

East Fremantle found plenty of avenues to goal with Brett Peake kicking three goals, Tim Bristow two, Matthew Watson two and James Bristow two.

The Sharks' midfield was completely dominant and once again the Falcons' were well beaten in the possession count.

Liam Anthony racked up 34 disposals for East Fremantle, Sean Henson 28, Cameron Eardley 25, Dion Anthony 24, Tim Bristow 23, George Hampson 23, Jack Perham 22, Ryan Lester-Smith 22 and Andrew Stokes 13 to go with 19 hit outs and a goal.

West Perth didn’t have a multiple goal scorer with Steven Browne gathering 29 possessions, Aaron Black 28, Rohan Kerr 26, Trent Manzone 23 and Tyler Keitel 18. Seva Mozhaev finished with 39 hit outs.

Claremont took its home game to Bassendean due to the unavailability of the Showground and the Tigers got off to a dominant start. Despite Swans kicking the first goal through Albert Dean after three misses to the Tigers, it appeared a matter of time before Claremont blew Swan Districts away.

Claremont did kick the last four goals of the first quarter but the lead of 26 points didn’t fully highlight their dominance.

And right throughout the rest of the game missed opportunities in front of goal continued to stop Claremont pulling away and kept Swan Districts in it.

The Tigers' midfield was dominant and Claremont was getting good chances in front of goal many of which were straight in front not more 35 metres out, but they just couldn’t take toll.

Swans were taking heart from that and desperate for a first win of 2016 ahead of a clash with Subiaco next Sunday, closed to within five points late in the first half.

Claremont again appeared to steady late in the third term leading by 21 points, but Swan Districts had a sniff and the Tigers couldn’t put them away.

The Tigers likely had a chance at the sealer following a 50m penalty to Ian Richardson. But he hit the post for his fifth behind. From that kick-in, Freddie Clutterbuck goaled for Swans followed by majors to Kirk Ugle and Ricky Cary that got the black-and-whites home.

Cary kicked three goals for Swans with Tom Smirk and Albert Dean adding two apiece. Smirk also played a tremendous role as a defensive forward holding the dangerous Matthew Davies to 13 possessions.

Aaron Elari racked up 25 possessions, Clutterbuck 22, Dean 21, Adam Faulkner 19 and Matt Riggio.

Down back, captain Tallan Ames held Beau Maister goalless and Alex Howard kept Darcy Cameron without a goal too.

Ian Richardson kicked three goals for Claremont with Jack Richardson and debutant Zac Langdon adding two.

The Tigers' midfield was dominant with Jye Bolton racking up 36 possessions, Tom Ledger 33, Ryan Lim 25, Jack Bradshaw 24, Jake Murphy 23 and Ryan Neates 21.

And at Medibank Stadium, Subiaco showed its dominance against Perth with 12 of the first 13 goals but it did take a while for the Lions to get going.

The only goal of the first quarter came at the 16-minute mark. But then Subiaco lifted in the second term with four goals in 14 minutes. The Lions led by 31 points at half-time and then that was 60 by time-on in the third following five more unanswered goals.

Perth did kick two of the last three goals but that only cut Subiaco's winning margin to 50.

The Demons were able to be competitive with the Lions with both teams having 23 scoring shots while Subiaco had just four more possessions and three extra inside-50 entries. But kicking four goals and 19 behinds cost Perth any hope of getting close to Subiaco.

Hamish Shepheard had his best game for Subiaco with five goals while Ben Sokol chipped in with another two.

Leigh Kitchin racked up 39 possessions, Brett Robinson 27, Chris Phelan 27, Kyal Horsley 22, Adam Cockie 19, Wayde Twomey 19, Greg Clark 18 and Joel Latham 18.

Lachlan Delahunty had a fascinating ruck battle with Angus Graham. The versatile Lion had 33 possessions and 23 hit outs while the Demons ruckman was good with 18 disposals, six marks and 40 hit outs. Both kicked a goal as well.

Clint Jones picked up another 36 disposals for the Demons while Aidan Tropiano had 32 touches, Julian Jacobs 24, Brett Wolfenden 20, Michael Sinclair 20, Brent Edmonds 19 and Taran Etto.

Teenager Zac Fisher was terrific again with 22 possessions and six tackles.

RESERVES STANDOUTS
East Perth's reserves also had a big win at Bendigo Bank Stadium beating Peel Thunder 14.12 (96) to 5.6 (36).

Lewis Wilson and Jake Jones kicked three goals each for the Royals, and Agid Gardoud two.

Tom Omodei amassed another 27 possessions, Shayne Hille 26, Tom Gorter 21, Ben Miller 20 and Daniel Perkins 19. Scott Jones racked up 43 hit outs in the ruck.

Luke Shepherd kicked three of Peel's goals while Keegan Power and Jamahl Mullholland gathered 15 possessions apiece.

And East Fremantle beat West Perth 13.11 (89) to 8.11 (59) at ATOM Stadium.

Jacob Green and Adrian Ricciardello kicked three goals each for the Sharks while Julian Locantro racked up 32 possessions (10 marks), Tyler Chalwell 25 (11 marks), Tom Marshall 24, Jake Schleicher 20, Denholm King 19, Tom Bennett 18 and Josh Cuneo 18.

Ben Mountford kicked three goals for West Perth while Mitch Peirce gathered 23 possessions, Conal Lynch 18 and William Clemett 17. Matt Johnson played his first game of the season and the left-footed half-forward kicked a goal from nine kicks and five marks.

Claremont recorded a 12.14 (86) to 9.12 (66) victory over Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval.

Gerrick Weedon marked his return to WAFL football with an encouraging performance for Claremont finishing with 16 possessions, six marks and three goals. Eddie Simpson and Mason Whitehead kicked two goals apiece.

Morgan Davies racked up 28 possessions for the Tigers, Justin Speed 26, Haydn Busher 22, Harry Sinclair 21, Harrison McCracken 20, Dylan Ross 18, John Williams 18 and Tom Shanahan 18.

Brody Sutton kicked three goals for Swan Districts and Steven Wityk two with Warrick Wilson compiling 28 possessions, Ben Whitsed 27, Jesse Turner 23 and Lindsay Murray 19.

And at Medibank Stadium, Subiaco beat Perth 17.14 (116) to 11.7 (73) with Hayden Yarran kicking three goals, Jeremy Woodley two, Ryan Vermeersch two, Liam Ryan two and Michael Braut two.

Matt Bogensperger racked up 30 possessions for the Lions, Simon Moore 24, Justin Joyce 24, Max Walters 24 and Braden Fimmano 18.

Rowan Brookes kicked four goals for Perth and Kristian Cary two while Fraser Millar gathered another 30 possessions, Brad Keast 21, Lennon Marlin 19 and Kieran Hug 18.

REDiMED COLTS RISING STARS
In the RediMed Colts, Peel Thunder came from behind to defeat East Perth 12.7 (79) to 10.16 (76) at Bendigo Bank Stadium.

Brett Milward kicked five goals for Peel while Alex Cohen compiled 24 possessions, Michael Humble 23, Brandon Penny 23, Cruze Wilson 15, Jakeb Shine 15 and Fletcher Klasztorny 14 to go with 23 hit outs, six inside-50 entries and a goal from the ruck.

Stan Wright and Jack Amos kicked two goals each for the Royals with Mitch Dobson finishing with 22 disposals, Christian Ameduri 22, Alex Di Placido 21 and Thomas Amos 18 to go with 14 hit outs.

East Fremantle had a romping 19.11 (125) to 5.5 (35) win over West Perth at ATOM Stadium on the back of 10 goals to one in the first half.

Drew Blurton booted six goals for East Fremantle, Ambrose Ryan five and two each to Aiden Wainwright and Samuel Lewis.

Kyle Baskerville gathered 26 possessions for the Sharks, Matthew Burton 25, Corey Holmes 24, Ryan 20, Dylan Campbell 19, Gabriel Parfitt 19, Lewis 18 and Senna Grljusich 18.

Jack Stevens, Kurt Hindmarsh, Joel Horgan, Brody Zanon and Liam Baker were the goal scorers for West Perth.

Baker amassed 28 possessions, Zanon 22, Horgan 16 and Joel Bennett 15.

And in the RediMed Colts to start the day, an inaccurate Swan Districts held on to beat Claremont 7.15 (57) to 7.9 (51) at Steel Blue Oval.

Aidan Clarke had a day out for Swans with 31 possessions, seven marks and two goals while Gregory Humphries also booted three goals.

Josh Cipro also compiled 36 disposals for the black-and-whites, Lochie Huntley 20, Tobe Watson 19, Taryce Stewart 17, Griffen Logue 17 and Mitch Price 17 to go with 19 hit outs and eight marks in the ruck.

Oliver Eastland and Matt Guelfi kicked two goals each for Claremont with Guelfi also racking up 31 possessions. Jacob Sideris also had it 30 times for the Tigers, Bailey Banfield 20, Jake Stergiou 19, Tom Lawrence 17 and Bailey Bennett 17.

And at Medibank Stadium, Perth took out a strong 14.10 (94) to 5.11 (41) victory over Subiaco.

James Bereyne kicked four goals for the Demons, Cody Kickett three and Josh Burke two while Joseph Ugle had 27 possessions, Quinton Narkle 27, Chris Leonard 20, Jayden Johnstone 18 and John Levien 18 to go with six tackles and five inside-50 entries.

Aaron Breman, Martin Kaker, Jye Harris, Daniel Del Prete and Daniel Ryan were Subiaco's goal scorers. Jacob Miller and McKenzie Lawrence finishing with 19 possessions apiece and Fraser Twomey 18.
