Umpires recognised at Awards of ExcellenceFriday, October 20, 2023 - 9:11 AM

The West Australian Football Commission along with the Regional District Councils (RDCs) hosted the Awards of Excellence which celebrated junior umpires, recognising their dedication and contribution to the sport by announcing the Umpire of the Year awards within each district.

This event showcased the outstanding talent and commitment of these young individuals who are the next generation of umpires progressing through the officiating pathway.

WAFC Junior Umpiring Coordinator, Courtney Gibson said the RDCs Umpire of the Year Awards served as a testament to the invaluable role junior umpires play in the sporting community and creating safe environments.

“Congratulations to all the winners and to all our junior umpires who officiated games this season,” Gibson said.

Corey Ranger, the Head of Club Development and Volunteers at WAFC, expressed his delight in witnessing all the clubs appreciating the exceptional efforts by umpires throughout each season.

“This year we introduced separate male and female categories in the Umpire of the Year Award to recognise their dedication to the game, it’s not always an easy job,” Ranger said.
