SUBIACO recorded a huge win over Claremont on Saturday to continue its unbeaten start to the 2014 WAFL season while Swan Districts and West Perth both recorded their first victories.

Round 3 of WAFL action began at Fremantle Oval on Friday night with East Perth beating South Fremantle by 75 points, 20.8 (128) to 8.5 (53) and then there were three matches on Saturday afternoon.

The first pitted Claremont against Subiaco at East Fremantle Oval and the Lions recorded their third straight win to start the season, running out thumping 80-point winners 18.22 (130) to 6.14 (50).

Swan Districts then stormed home in the second half to beat Peel Thunder 16.18 (114) to 11.13 (79) while West Perth also finished over the top of Perth winning 15.13 (103) to 13.7 (85).

Subiaco now sits on top of the WAFL ladder after a 38-point win over South Fremantle, 56-point win over East Fremantle and 80-point thumping of Claremont.

Against the Tigers on Saturday at East Fremantle Oval, George Hampson was outstanding for the Lions with 28 possessions and four goals.

Chris Deluca also added three goals (and seven behinds) with Shane Yarran, Simon Moore and Josh Deluca all kicking two apiece.

Chris Phelan led the way through the middle for Subiaco with 30 possessions with Brett Mahoney gathering 24 disposals, Jason Bristow 23, Wayde Twomey 21 and Lachlan Delahunty 19.

It was a tough day for Claremont with Jack Richardson and Jack Bradshaw kicking two goals each, and Luke Blackwell racking up 28 possessions, Andrew Foster 28, Tom Ledger 26, Ryan Neates 20 and Darcy Cameron 19 to go with 22 hit outs.

Peel Thunder looked in control of Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval leading by 28 points at half-time and then by 34 early in the third quarter, but the Thunder only kicked one more goal for the rest of the game.

Meanwhile, Swans piled on 11 of their own to end up winning convincingly by 35 points in their first win of the 2014 season.

Without doubt, the highlight of the afternoon was an incredible eight-goal performance from 14 kicks and nine marks from four-game Swan Districts youngster Ricky Cary.

The winless reigning premiers West Perth hosted the unbeaten Perth at Arena Joondalup on Saturday as well in what loomed as a fascinating battle, and that's exactly how it played out.

West Perth did lead by 19 points during the second quarter but by just 10 at half-time, and then Perth hit the front on the three quarter-time siren thanks to a goal to Paul Bevan.

However, the Falcons booted five goals to one in the last quarter to end up winning by 18 points to get their first win of the season, and hand the Demons their first defeat.

Marcus Adams and Andrew Strijk both kicked three goals apiece for the Falcons with Brayden Antonio booting two.
