Simply Energy to power up WA Football talentFriday, September 14, 2018 - 5:15 PM

Western Australia’s emerging football talent has received a boost with the announcement of a new partnership with energy retailer Simply Energy.

The Simply Energy partnership includes naming rights to the Simply Energy WAFL Colts competition and the Simply Energy Male State Talent Academy as WA’s Official Talent Pathway Partner.

The partnership will also see the Simply Energy WAFL Colts Grand Final televised for the first time on the 7 Network as a lead-up to the League Grand Final at Optus Stadium on Sunday, September 23.

Simply Energy Chief Executive Officer Carly Wishart said the partnership was a natural fit for the business as it continues to build its profile in Western Australia having recently entered the residential gas market in Perth.

“Partnering with the WAFL allows us to support community football in WA, while also complementing our national relationship with the AFL,” Ms Wishart said.

“Western Australia has a proud football history, having produced some of the most prodigious talent to have played in the AFL. As the Official Talent Pathway Partner, Simply Energy will be the backbone for those young West Australians aspiring to fulfil their AFL dreams.”

West Australian Football Commission CEO Gavin Taylor welcomed Simply Energy to WA Football and said their support would help WA achieve its goal of being Australia’s best State for talent development.

“The WAFC launched its new Colts talent development model this year to give our State’s most talented players the best possible opportunity to pursue their dreams of playing at the highest level,” he said.

“The support from Simply Energy will be critical to ensuring that these players are very well-supported and resourced throughout their journey along our talent pathway.

“We’re confident that with the additional investment, the quality and consistency of players developed through the Simply Energy WAFL Colts competition and our State Talent Academies will only continue to improve.

“Thanks to Simply Energy and the 7 Network we will also have the opportunity to showcase this emerging talent on a state-wide television broadcast live from Optus Stadium next Sunday, which is a really exciting prospect for the players, their clubs and the WAFL competition.”

The 7 Network broadcast of the Simply Energy WAFL Colts Grand Final commences at 11.30am on Sunday, September 23.

Launched in 2005, Simply Energy is a growing energy retailer with over 670,000 customer accounts in Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Queensland and Western Australia.
